Introduction
If you prefer working independently and can work night time hours or weekend hours, this position is for you! Typically the Youth Care Worker begins a shift at the Abbott House after all the young people have gone to bed. In the quiet of the evening, you are responsible for regularly checking on sleeping children, facility cleaning, and documentation. Once the youth wake up you will also be assisting with morning routines.

What You Will Do:
Child Supervision: Nurture children through interactive and engaging strategies. Maintain vigilant supervision of children. Facilitate structured activities, i.e., games, outdoor recreation, etc., if applicable. Assist children with hygiene, diet, getting ready for school, etc. Respond to emotional dysregulation in a trauma informed manner, supporting as needed.
Team Participation: Participate as member of treatment team and maintain communication with the team. Assist in keeping unit clean and orderly.
Data Management and Communication: Document required hand off communication. Complete daily/weekly logs on assigned children. Complete behavioral/restraint/incident reports before leaving shift.
Safety & Compliance: Ensure safety standards and policies and procedures are followed. Monitor and supervise phone calls and visits as set by child's therapist.
Professional Development: Work on Quality Improvement goals. Attend required annual training and demonstrate competency in required areas. Attend and participate in weekly staff meetings.

· Conduct chemical dependency intake and assessments.
· Deliver client-centered individual and group counseling sessions.
· Develop and implement personalized treatment plans.
· Maintain accurate documentation in electronic health records.
· Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure quality care.
· Additional responsibilities as needed to support organizational goals.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Minimum requirements are a high school diploma/GED with the start of your initial SUD education classes. Bachelor's or master's in human services field is ideal.
Credentials: Preferred candidates would have a Certified chemical dependency counselor or licensed addictions counselor as recognized by SD BAPP. ACT will be considered.
