Conduct street and community outreach during working hours, including some nights and weekends as needed.
Assist Project Director and Behavioral Health Lead Navigator in the creation, scheduling, and presentation of education sessions/groups for HIV, STD awareness, mental health, Life Skills, substance use, and other BMC services.
Distribute preventive materials including safe sex kits, condoms, and flyers.
Educate target population, newly diagnosed HIV persons, and others about BMC's available services, treatment options, and assist with linkages to services.
Engage and educate individuals aged 13 and up in risk-reduction discussions.
Ensure all certifications required for your position remain active and that updated copies are submitted for your employee file.
Ensure data collection is completed in a timely, accurate and consistent manner, including HIV and STD testing, follow-up questionnaires, and others.
Make home visits and reach out to individuals that are high risk, hard to reach, and/or present an adherence problem to treatment.
Navigate coordination and expedite services and linkages to additional wrap around care.
Perform behavioral screenings and assessments including GPRA, questionnaire data, demographic data collection instruments, pre-post training assessments, and surveys of partners and staff.

Unit Management: Responsible for assisting with the overall appearance and management of the group home. Record significant events in the daily logbook. Issues and documents medication, as necessary. Regularly prepares breakfast, weekend meals and evening snacks as applicable to shift. May be called upon for food preparation as needed.
Other: Will assume other responsibilities as designated by the CEO or Program Administrator.
Foster Care Back-Up Babysitters must be able to participate in routine household cleaning and management. Should be able to participate in physical activities with children if needed. Must be in good physical health. Will also need to be able to handle driving a 6-passenger van occasionally and for emergencies.
Working Conditions: Most duties are performed in the home unit; however, contacts with the community and out-of-town trips, sometimes overnight, are required. The Foster Care Back-Up Babysitter's work schedule will be determined by the employing supervisor. Foster Care Back-Up Babysitters are responsible for the supervision of any child that is in the unit at any time. Some free time may be available daily while the children are at school or doing other activities. It shall be noted that staff meetings may also be scheduled during this time and other home unit management responsibilities will be expected to be accomplished. Foster Care Back-Up Babysitters will be responsible for securing their own housing off-site during scheduled time off.

Social services members at the PD-15 Judicial Circuit assist attorneys and clients in many ways, which varies based on the client's needs, availability of community services, the number of face-to-face meetings with each client, and the offense.
PD-15's unpaid/volunteer social work interns are typically local university MSW students, who work with the office for the academic year in order to establish and maintain a relationship with clients. MSW may receive credit for their participation. To expose first-year MSW student interns to the field of social work, interns learn case management, interviewing, and assessment skills through shadowing one of PD-15's mental health social workers. Interns also work with juvenile probation cases to motivate offenders to complete the requirements of probation and ideally achieve early termination of their probation early.
We accept two, first-year MSW students throughout the year.
We have MOUs with FAU, LSU, and Tulane University. Prior approval from the school is necessary.
Students may receive academic credit.
Interns are unpaid/volunteer.
