We are looking for Apprentices to join our training program that will kickoff in January in our Austin, TX studio location. Upon successful completion of the program, graduated Apprentices will become eligible for Part Time Associate Piercer positions at our Boston, MA studio.
Hourly Rate:
Graduated apprentices make $24/hour as Associate Piercers, plus tips
During the 6-week training program, apprentices make $18/hour, plus tips

Requirements:
3 years of relevant work experience
At least two years as a Medical Assistant or Phlebotomist (performing venipunctures and/or finger sticks) preferred
Availability:
FT: Must maintain open availability and be able to work 30-40 hours per week, including weekends and holidays
PT: 4-29 hours per week, working weekends and holidays
Must pierce a minimum 18 appointments a day
Must be able to visually inspect ear anatomy to execute advanced piercings
Must be able to deliver piercings with a steady hand
Must be able to lift 20 lbs
Must be able to handle chemicals safely

Part Time:

Position Overview
Ready to turn your graduate-level ABA training into real clinical experience? Designed for students actively pursuing their BCBA, this apprenticeship provides supervised practice, hands-on learning, and a supportive environment where your skills (and your confidence) can take root!
The ABA Apprentice supports Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) by providing direct and indirect services within the Applied Behavior Analysis department. Under the supervision of a BCBA, the Apprentice assists with treatment, evaluation, supervision, and parent training to address behavior challenges and skill development in children.
This apprenticeship provides structured, hands-on experience designed to build clinical competence and gradually increase independence while accruing supervision hours toward Board Certification in Behavior Analysis.
Apprentices also function in a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) capacity and are required to maintain a minimum saturation level of 60% combined RBT Direct and BCBA Billable Hours weekly. RBT Competencies must be met before beginning Apprentice Competencies.
Education/Experience Requirements
Be enrolled in their final year (12 months from the estimated graduation date) of a Verified Course Sequence at the graduate level for education in Applied Behavior Analysis.
Maintain passing grades in all ABA coursework.
A minimum of one year of proven successful experience in the area of pediatric behavior therapy, preferred.

Job Functions:
Provides direct ABA therapy to clients in the capacity of an RBT.
Develops individualized treatment plans that are accountable, measurable, and result in meaningful changes.

Position Summary The Medical Assistant Apprenticeship Program is a 12 month program that prepares students to take the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) test through the National Health Career Association. It has been approved by the State of Washington as an equivalent to an MA-C program at a community or technical college.
The program:
Is a registered apprenticeship program through the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries.
Is governed by an Apprenticeship Committee of 50% employer and 50% MA representatives.
Is administered through the Washington Association of Community & Migrant Health Centers.
Trains students in the specific skills required to achieve the MA-C credential, as outlined in RCW 18.360 and WAC 246-827.
Curriculum is approved by the State Board for Community and Technical Colleges.
As a part of the MA Apprenticeship Program, Apprentices will:
Complete 2000 hours of on-the-job training (paid) with the support and guidance of an experienced one-on-one MA coach
Complete 364 hours of supplemental coursework (unpaid). There are two online courses:

Role of Medical Assistants in the Patient-Centered Medical Home model
Attend 3 in-person lab days with an expert instructor to practice and demonstrate mastery of hands-on technical skills.
Log and report on-the-job hours and skill practices as required.
The MA Apprentice is a key member of the patient care team, working with the medical provider and other members of the care team to ensure the patient receives current and ongoing primary care services in a timely, courteous and professional manner at all times.
As the patient's medical home, it is the care team's responsibility, with the Medical Assistant Apprentice as a central and key member, to ensure that all clinical measures and patient health needs are addressed in the course of the provision of care.
The MA Apprentice will work collaboratively, efficiently and effectively with other members of the care team, such as the provider, On-site Integration Specialists, Care Coordinators, Health Educators, Dieticians, and Behavioral Health Specialists. The care team work collaboratively to ensure improved health outcomes, smooth patient flow throughout the care process, and ultimately a good experience for the patient.
The MA Apprentice responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: tracking and documentation of all clinical measures and outcomes (HEDIS, UDS, etc.); using established protocols and practice, will complete all provider referrals for each patient, administer immunizations under standing orders or physicians' order, assisting the medical provider with charting office visits, ensuring communication and documentation for comprehensive patient care coordination, following protocol in rooming and exiting patients and other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
The MA Apprentice may have other duties assigned such as performing QI audits; participation in organizational committees, and providing shadowing opportunities for new staff; etc.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

The MA Apprentice is responsible for ensuring that ALL patient clinical measures are being addressed and will do so by doing thorough EHR reviews, working collaboratively with the Chronic Care Coordinators, tracking and documenting all clinical measures/outcomes for patients in EHR.
Will coordinate and process all patient referrals, for both internal and external services. In addition, will inform patients regarding specialty referral, providing required information to specialist's offices for point of care referral processing, including but not limited to, labs, EHR notes, etc.
Must be team oriented and work collaboratively with all other care team members to provide the best outcomes for the patients and the organizations.
Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span.
Is able to identify and categorize each patient's age-specific grouping of needs and clinical measures such as those for infant, adolescent, adult or geriatric patients.
Is responsible for the Pre-Huddle preparation and participation in the Care Team Huddle to ensure the collection of all relative clinic forms, quality/HEDIS measures, lab and x-ray reports and review of the Patient Manager and Medication confirmation process and any additional information necessary to be prepared for the patient's visit.
The MA Apprentice will be responsible for obtaining patient subjective information and vital signs.
MA will perform duties in the MA - Apprentice scope of Practice, to include administering immunization, administration of eye drops, and applying topical ointments.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Qualifications
Meet the following minimum qualifications:
Proficient in reading, writing and speaking English.
High school education or equivalent.
At least 18 years of age.
Able to perform the duties of an MA Apprentice operating at the highest scope of work, in the judgment of the employer.
Able to provide proof of 7.0 HIV/AIDS training from WA State DOH-approved training provider.
Able to provide proof of up-to-date First Aid and CPR training.
Have the time and resources to devote to the online coursework, lab days, and documentation associated with the program. Specific requirements include:
Ability to spend at least 5 hours per week on online coursework for a full year. This time is unpaid and outside of normal work hours. (As an employer, you can choose to allow your employees to complete online coursework on the clock, at your discretion, but this is not an expectation).
Access to a computer with (1) an Internet connection; (2) a current web browser; (3) capability to watch videos and play sound (e.g., Adobe Flash player or a similar program); (4) capability to open and read PDF documents (e.g., Adobe Acrobat Reader or a similar program); and (5) capability to download and save documents, either on a hard drive or a thumb drive.
Ability to attend up to four (4) in-person lab skills/review days within a three-hour drive of their workplace. These will be scheduled on Saturdays.
Ability to attend a one day testing session within a three-hour drive of their workplace.

Be genuinely interested in and committed to a career as a Certified Medical Assistant. This registered Apprenticeship program is a unique route to obtaining MA-C certification. It is completed in lieu of community or technical college course, but it should be approached with the same level of commitment and professionalism. Depending on the arrangement with the employer, the apprentice may be asked to pay all or part of the $3000 training fee; approximately $300 for textbooks; travel to the kick-off event, lab days and testing; and the certification testing fee. An Apprentice should view these costs as an investment in his/her education and future career. The Apprentice should also understand that competing college-level coursework on evenings and weekends after working a full time job can be challenging, and requires a high level of dedication and excellent time management skills.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
The incumbent must be able to speak, write and read proficiently in English.
The ability to speak and interpret in Spanish and/or Russian is preferred and may be required depending upon the needs of the clinic.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

**Job Description**
**RESPONSIBILITIES**
+ Under supervision, evaluate basic customer biomedical equipment issues, implement appropriate repairs; as assigned, perform planned maintenance (PM), safety, environmental inspections and maintain effective customer relations. Follow appropriate GEHC policies, procedures, hospital protocol and complete necessary documentation, as guided.
+ Maintain daily communications with customers as directed, to ensure resolution and proper follow-up, leading to customer satisfaction. As instructed, implement GEHC/customer facility contract, supporting business goals and objectives.
+ May assist more experienced technicians on progressive repairs and resolution. Work as a member of local team to provide efficient service delivery to all accounts within assigned area.
+ Document all repair actions and submit reports/summaries according to schedule. Maintain approved parts inventory. Manage vendor's service delivery processes in compliance with GEHC policies, as instructed.
+ Ensure proper care of spares, tools and test equipment and ensure calibration. Enhance and maintain technical knowledge of current standards, codes, and procedures regarding safe and effective use of medical equipment formal instruction.
+ Meet Health and Human Services, as well as Environment Health and Safety requirements.
+ Complete all planned Quality and Compliance training within the defined deadlines. Identify and report any and all customer quality or compliance concerns immediately to the Quality Organization.
+ Aware of and comply with the GEHC Quality Manual, Quality Management System, Quality Management Policy, Quality Goals, and applicable laws and regulations as they apply to this job type/position.
**REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS**
+ AS, BS, MS degree, military education, certificate program, current student with less than 12 months from completion OR High School Diploma/GED with 6 months experience servicing electronic, IT or mechanical equipment.
+ Previous experience and/or course work in which you have successfully interpreted schematic diagrams and performed troubleshooting and planned maintenance on basic diagnostic imaging or electronic equipment following current standards, code, and procedures to ensure safe and effective operation of those devices.
