Key Results - Step 1. Greet and Introduce
“Hi, Welcome to Great Clips.” Smile and warmly welcome the customer immediately.
Ask if the customer used Online Check-In. Refer to Wait List Display to tell the customer the estimated wait time and how many people are ahead of them.
Enter the customer information into the computer; if they used Online Check-In, thank them.
Go to the front desk when you are ready for your next customer, enter the customer into the service screen and call the customer's name.
Address the customer by name when introducing yourself.
Walk with the customer to the cutting station (have chair facing the aisle and lowered).
Key Actions:
Greet customers within 5 seconds using the Great Clips greeting and eye contact.
Check customers in promptly and communicate accurate wait times; ask for the customer's name first to make the connection and then enter the name, address and phone number accurately into the computer; explain the reason for gathering this information and how it is used to make sure customers are comfortable giving personal information to you.
Take your turn greeting and checking in customers so customers in the chair don't feel inconvenienced.
Have a complete understanding of how Online Check-In works, be able to explain Online Check-In to the customer and how this service can help reduce the customer's wait time in the lobby.
Enhance customer comfort by always using front stations.
Use the 5 Steps to Customer Care and orient new customers on what you are going to do before you do it so they know what to expect from their Great Clips experience.
Dress according to the apparel guidelines and maintain a professional appearance.
Keep stations and equipment neat and clean; make sure lobby tables, display shelves and front desk are neat and clean so the salon is neat, clean and ready to serve our guests.
Share in cleaning responsibilities and complete any duties assigned.
Embrace customer convenience by maximizing weekend schedules and other peak times. Work weekend, evening and other shifts to provide the most convenience to customers; be flexible to cover shifts as requested.
Be available to work during black-out dates.
Be ready to cut hair when the salon opens and accept customers up until salon's posted closing time.
Key Results - Step 2. Connect through Consultation
Review Clip Notes with the customer to ensure consistency and quality of haircut, and increase confidence.
Listen to the customer and determine the haircut they want.
Find out the style of haircut or shape the customer desires and determine if the style will work for the customer's lifestyle and hair type.
Gather information from the customer about current product usage.
Establish the customer's preferred hair length and shape of the outline. Follow the order: Back/Front/Sides.
Establish the customer's preferred interior length, such as layers, weightline, taper, clipper. Follow the order: Top/Back/Sides.
Using a hand mirror, check for the customer's understanding before starting haircut.

As you create the haircut using the Great Clips Cutting and Clipper Systems, stay focused on the customer and engage in professional conversation.
Use the customer's name and share information about community events.
Talk product with the customer and recommend appropriate products.

Acknowledge and apologize for any interruptions to the customer, and confirm where you are in the haircut when you return.
Refrain from conversations with co-workers.
Stay informed on products carried in the salon and on trends affecting the industry.
Ensure that State Board [regulatory agency]/province rules are met at all times.

GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE
The Stylist is responsible for engaging with guests, consulting with them on their hair care needs and recommending products and services. The Stylist delivers quality professional services with an emphasis on the guest's total look. They support the Experience Manager (EM) and the Assistant Services Manager (ASM) through a focus on performance (service sales, and productivity), people (guest service), and process (operating procedures and compliance standards).
