Subject matter expert job description

Responsible for providing subject matter expertise in the integration, testing, and operations of intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) mission systems. Duties of this position include but are not limited to:
Integrate new intelligence collection sensor mission systems into ground based architectures Apply experience and expertise to develop sensor and mission system training for weapon system operators Work cooperatively with weapon system developers to troubleshoot and quickly resolve integration and testing issues and roadblocks Preparation of briefing materials for senior government and military personnel regarding ongoing program integration status and future plans

Experience

Minimum 15 years ISR mission system integration experience Demonstrated experience working DoD Special Access Programs Support to both Intelligence Community (IC) programs and DoD weapon systems Technical credentials related to intelligence and sensor technology BS in engineering desired but not required

Security Clearance

Must have an active Top Secret Clearance with SCI eligibility Eligibility for access to Special Access Program information Willingness to submit to and successfully complete a Counterintelligence polygraph

Other Requirements

Must have the ability to work in a very dynamic environment and effectively interact with numerous DoD, military/civilian personnel, and industry partners Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Powerpoint, and Excel) Ability to communicate with executive leadership regarding matters of significant importance to the customer organization

We are currently looking for a customer-oriented Subject Matter Expert - NGS Liquid Handling to join our team of senior level experts. As an SME in automated liquid handling, you will be responsible on the development and support of complex Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) workflows on PerkinElmer's automated liquid handling platforms. You will provide your expertise to support our Field Application Specialists and Account Managers to tailor PerkinElmer solutions to the Customers application requirements across EMEAI.

The role is 50-70% field-based with the remaining time spent at the home office, working remotely within the matrix organization. We are looking for a candidate who is based in UK. The expectation is that you will travel to customer sites as needed.

Key Responsibilities:
Design, optimize and troubleshoot methods for automated liquid handling of complex molecular biology and genetic workflows, including NGS library preparation (post-sales support ~50% of the role) Act as the point of contact for the Country\Regional application leaders, sales, and FAS of the EMEAI Territories in terms of application escalation support, training requirements and pre-sales consultation.Perform demonstrations, deliver scientific presentations around products and their applications in-person or remotely.Be responsible for the training planning and execution for the products in own line of excellence Work closely with product management, R&D and FAS teams to help position new products and/or applications for the EMEAI market by exploring suitable applications and providing helpful feedback within organization.

Requirements:
Must have: Bachelor's degree in Bioengineering, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or similar with 5+ years of relevant experience or Master's degree with 3+ years or relevant experience; PhD degree is considered as an advantage.Must have: 3+ years hands-on experience in NGS/molecular genetics lab work and willingness to learn programming. Alternatively, 1-2 years NGS library automation experience, especially writing and optimizing scripts on automated liquid handling platforms (optimization of pipetting accuracy, precision and/or speed beyond default settings).Must have: Enthusiastic, proactive and stress resistant personality.Proven success working on your own initiative as well as part of a team.Comfortable to travel nationally and internationally 50-70% of the working week.Excellent interpersonal skills - interest to work with customers Willingness to develop commercial acumen and understanding of business drivers.Full driving license.
