SPECIFIC DUTIES Design and develop a manner in which to evaluate the outreach (i.e., psychological and spiritual) services offered to clients of the Office of Assistance Ministry. Represent the office when an allegation is formalized at Professional Fitness Review meeting with Victim-Survivor. Explain office services. Monitor therapeutic outreach to individual clients of the office. Maintain professional relationship with treating therapists. Send necessary forms and documentation to therapist. Explain billing and payment procedures. Receive therapeutic treatment reports from treating therapists on individual cases. Based on report, work with therapist on future commitments from the Archdiocese. Attend appropriate meetings with archdiocesan leadership on individual cases. Convene and chair Clinical Advisory Panel meetings. Maintain professional membership on panel. Consults and collaborates with director on specific cases. Serves as contact person for parish education in the arena of sexual abuse. Serves as consultant to other dioceses/religious communities. The Life of Prayer and Penance are conditions defined by the Archdiocese as fulfilling the expectations of the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People with respect to the lifestyle and behavioral expectations for priests who have at least one substantiated allegation of sexual abuse against a minor. The primary purpose of the Prayer and Penance program is to prevent sexual abuse by the program participants and to protect the community from harm. Secondary purposes of the Prayer and Penance Program are as follows: To reduce risk by promoting healthy living on the part of program participants in the program. To prevent harm to the faith of Catholics within the Archdiocese. To protect the reputation of the priesthood from further harm by individuals in the program. The guidelines that have been established for the Program of Prayer and Penance reflect current (2009) standards for community supervision with adults who have sexually offended minors. Increasing positive activities and pro-social relationships within a supervised framework with consistent accountability is the best overall methodology for prevention of further incidents of sexual abuse and other forms of sexual offending and is the core of the program. As the knowledge base in this area continues to develop, modifications will be in order. The Case Manager's function includes the following activities: Develop systems of support for program participants, Verify the accuracy of daily logs and travel requests, Establish communication with therapists, sponsors, and members of the participants' community support network, Maintain ongoing, personal communication with the program participants to continually assess risk, Develop and oversee the maintenance of Individual Specific Protocols, Oversee clinical services for participants, Document the compliance and non-compliance of program participants, Provide information regarding the program participants to leaders within the Archdiocese on both an "as needed" and consistent basis, EDUCATION Masters Degree in psychology, counseling, social work, or a related field. Responsibilities: * Provide orientation to incoming students; * Assist the building administrator in organizing staffing and implementing August registration for students; * Review documents for registration and placement purposes; * Evaluate student transcripts in order to create schedules and individual learning plans; * Administer and score reading and writing assessments to determine student progress; * Record grades on student transcripts and maintain student cumulative files and other records; * Participate in student in-take process; * Assist the building administrator and other personnel in evaluating student placement for the next school year; * Establish a helping relationship with each counselee and provide individual counseling to students; * Work with parents/guardians of students individually or in a small groups to help them: (a) understand the school; (b) cooperate with efforts to help the student; (c) understand the students school program, behavior issues, abilities and goals; (d) provide information that may be of use to the school to help the student; (e) assist in the solution of problems that the student is experiencing; * Work with teachers and other school employees to help them understand and support students who are experiencing educational and emotional issues; * Work with special service personnel regarding referrals of students, participate in staffing regarding student needs and provide other general assistance to special service personnel as directed by the site supervisor; * Assist with contacts to agencies, organizations and others in the community to ensure that local resources are utilized; * Initiate student/parent/guardian referrals to community resources as needed; * Participate in formal and informal public relations activities in order to promote acceptance of guidance as a reliable and valuable student service; * Contribute to the solution of student issues such as truancy, failures, and disinterest in school, discipline issues, assorted conflicts and dropouts. The counselor is expected to seek out such students and provide appropriate guidance and counseling services; * Participate in various group/guidance programs in order to provide students with information and insight pertaining to testing programs, job opportunities, school policies, regulations, procedures, programs, etc.; * Assist in the organization and administration of state, district and school testing programs for students, but shall not serve as the building test coordinator; * Make every reasonable effort to become more knowledgeable and competent by participating in in-service programs, maintain membership in professional organizations, reading professional literature, taking additional graduate work and attending appropriate professional conferences; * Participate in the evaluation and revision of the school guidance program and plan the guidance program calendar; * Fulfill professional responsibilities; (a) maintain confidentiality; (b) maintain records consistent with ethical and legal guidelines; (c) participate on the school-based crisis team; (d) perform responsibilities in an organized, accurate, timely and dependable manner; (e) operate within the established district and school procedures and policies; (f) provide support for other school and district programs and personnel; (g) utilizes computers effectively in the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities; * Perform such other guidance-related duties as may be assigned by the Associate Superintendent of Teaching, Learning and Professional Practices and/or the Guidance Academic Chair. * Perform such other professional duties as may be assigned by the building principal. Qualifications: Must have valid Illinois Professional Educators License.
