Responsibilities

Qualifications

SubstanceAbuseCounselors Level III are responsible for:
Maintaining a caseload which includes completing comprehensive assessments, preparing individualized developmentally appropriate treatment plans, and providing indiidual and group counseling and educational services in support of treatment plans.
Maintaining regular contact with insurance providers to report client treatment progress and obtain required certifications for continued stays. Depending on Center or site assigned, part-time positions may not maintain a caseload.
Developing and implementing complex treatment and discharge plans for clients with dual diagnoses, social or mental health issues; and conducting intensive or comprehensive interventions as necessary, such as family or domestic violence counseling.
Reporting caseload activities and progress to supervisor as required. Maintaining records and charts in accordance with organizational, regulatory, accreditation, and contractual standards.
Designing, implementing and integrating intensive service program to address particular social or psychological problems affecting portion of client population, e.g., domestic violence, sexual assault, grief, and so forth.
Serving as professional resource, and providing clinical supervision to other counselors as needed. Auditing client records prepared by others to ensure compliance with required documentation and service delivery. Providing assessments of special needs clients, and advice and guidance necessary to resolve complex case problems. Masters degree in Human Services field required.

Duties and Responsibilities

Overview
The CYRS Counselor (Master's Level) provides time-limited, in-home prevention and intervention counseling for youth ages 9-17 and their families. This role supports and stabilizes clients who lack immediate access to mental health services. The position addresses a range of challenges, including suicidal ideation (with no immediate intent), aggression, maladaptive coping behaviors (e.g., self-harm), excessive emotional distress, repetitive flight risks, binge eating, and substance use.

Requirements Key Responsibilities:
Conduct rapid risk assessments to determine if a child is in imminent danger and requires a higher level of care to ensure safety.
Evaluate for current or recent suicidal thoughts, including assessing for means, intent, or plans if the individual responds affirmatively to screening questions.
Provide in-home or community-based counseling sessions for clients and families, accommodating their schedules.
Respond to incoming calls and referrals within 120 minutes, triaging as needed for escalation to the Sarasota Mobile Response Team (MRT).
Address non-emergent calls within 48 hours.
Identify and evaluate coping mechanisms, including skills the individual has used successfully in the past, to help stabilize crises.
Develop and implement therapeutic action plans based on clinical needs; conduct weekly sessions to monitor progress.
Create and maintain safety plans tailored to clients' specific risks and presenting issues while fostering client strengths as protective factors.
Provide referrals and coordinate with community resources for clients and families, including warm handoffs to providers.
Conduct follow-ups for six months post-discharge at 30-day intervals.
Complete required assessment tools and progress notes promptly and in compliance with agency and funding source standards.
Meet agency productivity requirements set by the supervisor.
Demonstrate cultural competency, sensitivity to the service population, and an understanding of socio-economic issues.
Qualifications:
Education: Master's degree in psychology, social work, or a related field.
Licensure: LMHC or LCSW or registered intern preferred
Experience: At least 2+ years in behavioral health counseling and crisis intervention preferred.
Other: Valid Florida driver's license, availability to respond outside regular hours, and ability to pass a criminal background check.
Language: Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Proficiency in identifying and addressing the needs of abused and neglected children, child development, life span development, and family dynamics.
Experience working with resistant individuals and families.
Familiarity with evidence-based practices, including substanceabuse treatment, Motivational Interviewing, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and other evidence-based modalities.
Strong clinical documentation skills, with experience using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Excellent time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Professional demeanor with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Commitment to professional development in areas such as domestic violence, trauma, substanceabuse, and vulnerable populations.

Training Requirements:

Under the direction of the Early Head Start (EHS) Program Director the Family Services and Community Engagement Specialist is responsible to apply professional expertise and over-sight in the ERSEA (Enrollment, Recruitment, Selection, Eligibility and Attendance) Department, ensuring that the agency complies with all regulations per applicable Performance Standards. Analyze, plan, implement and provide training on enrollment systems for the department. Maintain on-going contact with families and work with all other components of Head Start such as (health, nutrition, mental health, special services, parent engagement and resource/referral) to integrate services into the family setting.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Managing Eligibility, Recruitment, Selection, Enrollment, and Attendance.
* Provide input and solutions to develop and or revise the agency's ERSEA systems, policy and procedures.
* Process Head Start applications and screen for qualifications under Head Start program guidelines.
* Conduct orientations for all families that will be entering the EHS program.
* Ensure sites maintain funded enrollment level and waiting list, as well as fill vacancies as needed.

* Assist Administration Director when needed inputting Health Documents into the Head Start Management System (ChildPlus).
* Create and conduct monthly parent meetings.

Education/ Experience Required:
* Bachelor's Degree in social work, human services, family services, counseling or a related field, or attain within eighteen months of hire, at a minimum, a credential or certification in social work, human services, family services, counseling or a related field.
