Behavioral and Medical Support Staff for Disabled Adults
Substance abuse counselor job in Sacramento, CA
Job Description
Strategies to Empower People is looking to hire full-time Behavioral & Medical Support Staff (Enhanced Direct Support Professional) to provide direct in-home and community support for adults with Developmental Disabilities who require a high level of BEHAVIORAL AND/OR MEDICAL SUPPORTS!
Do you want to make a lasting impact on someone's life? Do you have experience working with challenging behaviors or supporting complicated medical needs and looking for a place to put your skills to the test? Then continue reading!
WHO ARE WE?
Strategies to Empower People is a 100% employee-owned company that operates in the Greater Sacramento area! We have been providing services to adults with Intellectual and/or Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) since 1994 and are the largest provider of our type in the area!
We believe that every moment has potential, and we work tirelessly to ensure the people we serve are given every opportunity to be as independent as possible in their homes and in their communities.
WHAT IS THE JOB?
The Behavioral & Medical Support Staff works one-on-one with an adult who has an Intellectual and/or Developmental Disability who also needs experienced staff to support with consistent, high behavioral challenges or medical challenges. The clients we support live in their own homes - no group homes, and no locked facilities!
Even if someone needs a higher level of support it doesn't mean they can't live independent lives!
The Behavioral & Medical Support Staff's job is to provide direction and hands-on support with any and all needs our clients have, but the Behavioral & Medical Support Staff is not a butler! The goal is for our clients to engage in all parts of their lives, and the Behavioral & Medical Support Staff is responsible for making sure that even though our clients may need someone to help them with eating, cleaning, bathing, or toileting, that they themselves are still taking part in those activities! Behavioral & Medical Support Staff assist with assessment and behavioral intervention for the person they work with. Each person we support is different, so staff are provided specific training for their client on top of general intervention training (Pro-Act).
SCHEDULE
Behavioral & Medical Support Staff are hired with specific set schedules, which makes planning the rest of your life around work easier! The people we support need 24/7 care so we have a variety of full-time schedules.
During our interview process we discuss applicant availability and assess where best to consider someone based on numerous factors.
The rate of pay for the Behavioral & Medical Support Staff position ranges between $23 to $27 per hour dependent upon verifiable, related experience with behavioral supports.
LOCATION
Our Behavioral & Medical Support Staff provide support in the Greater Sacramento area. Behavioral & Medical Support Staff work in the home and in the community of the person they're supporting, so the work is done... where our clients live and play! One of the biggest goals is making sure that our clients' behavioral challenges don't stop them from engaging with their community - getting out of the home and into the world is part of the job as well!
The job takes place where the person you support lives and where they want to be, so flexibility and creativity are MUSTS when planning for our clients' success!
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Our Behavioral & Medical Support Staff Position requires at least six months of verifiable experience working with people who have regular behavioral and/or medical challenges. Experience beyond six months is reviewed in relation to wage offered.
The Behavioral & Medical Support Staff position also requires staff to drive which means we require a valid California Driver License, current auto insurance, and clean & reliable vehicle.
WHY WORK HERE?
Aside from being a 100% employee owned company, Strategies to Empower People has many additional benefits for our employees!
Full-time employees are eligible for medical, dental, vision, as well as vacation accrual after a six-month waiting period! Interested in planning for retirement? We have a matching 401k plan for employees! We also provide mileage reimbursement ($.70 per mile), an Employee Assistant Program, sick time accrual, and more!
