We are seeking an experienced Wastewater Treatment Specialist to take full ownership of the wastewater treatment systems at our client's wastewater facility. This is a critical, hands-on role responsible for the day-to-day operation, maintenance, optimization, and compliance of the site's wastewater treatment processes.
The successful candidate will be the subject-matter expert for wastewater operations on site, ensuring system reliability, environmental compliance, and continuous performance improvement. This is a fully onsite position requiring deep technical capability and operational accountability.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Process Control
Own and operate the wastewater treatment systems, ensuring stable, compliant, and efficient performance at all times
Monitor influent/effluent quality, process parameters, flows, and treatment performance
Optimise treatment processes to handle variable loads and operating conditions
Core Technology Ownership
Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot centrifugation systems, including solids separation and dewatering
Manage and optimise MBR (Membrane Bioreactor) systems, including membrane performance, cleaning protocols, and integrity monitoring
Oversee transfer systems, including pumps, piping, valves, and conveyance infrastructure
Maintenance & Reliability
Develop and execute preventative and corrective maintenance programs for wastewater assets
Troubleshoot mechanical, process, and instrumentation issues impacting treatment performance
Coordinate with maintenance teams and external service providers when required
Maintain accurate maintenance and operational record
Compliance & Reporting
Ensure compliance with all applicable environmental permits, discharge limits, and regulatory requirements
Support sampling, testing, documentation, and regulatory reporting
Prepare for and support internal and external audits and inspections
Safety & Site Integration
Champion safe working practices and adherence to site safety standards
Work closely with site operations, utilities, and environmental teams to ensure seamless integration with broader facility operations
Required Experience & Qualifications
Proven experience operating industrial or municipal wastewater treatment systems
Hands-on expertise with centrifugation, MBR systems, and wastewater transfer systems (mandatory)
Strong understanding of biological, mechanical, and membrane-based treatment processes
Experience with preventive maintenance programs and troubleshooting complex process issues
Familiarity with environmental compliance, permits, and regulatory inspections
Comfortable working in a fully onsite, operational environment
Preferred Background
Wastewater treatment at industrial, resource recovery, food & beverage, or organics processing facilities
Experience working in facilities with variable loading and challenging influent characteristics
Wastewater certifications or relevant technical training (California certifications a plus)

What You'll Do:

The 988 hotline will provide initial phone support to all callers and triage calls to the Sycamores Mobile Crisis Outreach Program for in-person support. The Mobile Crisis Outreach Team responds 7 days a week from 7:30pm to 8:30am, broken down by flexible shifts. The Mobile Crisis Outreach Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor II or III (CADC), will respond, in person, to provide timely support including crisis stabilization, safety planning, assessment for danger to self/ others, and gravely disabled write51/50 holds as needed and provide follow up support. Utilizing the Mobile Crisis Outreach Program vehicle to respond to calls, this role co-responds with a Mobile Crisis Outreach Program Peer Support Specialist and is an integral part of the Sycamores larger Mobile Crisis Outreach Program including close partnership with the 988 call center, Riverside County Dispatch Center, police, sheriff, psychiatric hospitals and ambulance transport companies.
The Mobile Crisis Outreach Department evaluates the individual experiencing a “mental health crisis” out in the field and takes measures to ensure the individuals safety (i.e., Evaluates if the individual requires involuntary hospitalization to ensure their safety). The Mobile Crisis Outreach Program CADC II or III takes the lead on care coordination and works collaboratively with the Mobile Crisis Outreach Program Peer Support Specialist to coordinate care i.e., locate hospitals, ambulances, housing, etc.). The Mobile Crisis Outreach Program responds to an individual's need for in-person evaluation for safety within specified geographical area (i.e., Desert, Mid-County and Western Regions.)
Starting Pay Range:
$70,304 - $74,000 per year for Full-Time employment (starting pay will be based on previous work experience and educational background.) There will be an additional $4,160 per year overnight differential.
Shift Schedule: Tuesday - Friday 10:30 pm - 8:30 am
JOB QUALIFICATIONS

JOB SUMMARY
The School of Social Work at the Palm Desert Campus seeks a graduate assistant with strong research skills for a project examining food insecurity in the Coachella Valley area, leveraging community-based partnerships to do so. This graduate assistant will work directly with community partners to implement a cross-sectional survey and analyze survey data to further understand the nature of food insecurity in the Coachella Valley. The graduate assistant will play an active role on project teams with university and community partners. Candidates must be able to manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines, be well versed in basic research and evaluation strategies, methodologies and analytic approaches, have quality written and oral communication skills, and be able to manage positive relationships with community partners. Preferred experience: Certification in specialized therapeutic techniques (e.g., CBT, DBT, play therapy, CADC, EMDR) and experience with electronic health records (EHR) and documentation systems.
Essential Technical/Motor Skills: The ability to use a computer on a routine basis and complete required documentation. Use of word processor, spread sheets and internet. Ability to transition to Electronic Health Records.
Interpersonal Skills: Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills. Proficiency in individual and group therapy techniques. Ability to develop and implement effective treatment plans. Excellent crisis intervention and management abilities. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams. Fluency in English and Spanish preferred. Ability to maintain a professional attitude in difficult situations and communicate effectively. Understands needs of clinic and works well in a team environment.
Essential Mental Abilities: In-depth knowledge of mental health conditions, treatment modalities, and evidence-based practices. Understanding of child and family dynamics, as well as developmental and cultural considerations. Familiarity with community resources and support services. Must have critical thinking for comprehensive treatment planning, empathy for building therapeutic rapport, cultural competence for engaging diverse populations, emotional intelligence for effective communication, adaptability for navigating complex environments, and strong communication skills for collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.
