As a member of the Gengras Center team, the Paraprofessional / Teaching Assistant will provide a supportive / engaging learning environment and instructional assistance within the classroom for individuals as well as general supervision and management of the students.

Responsibilities (Include but are not limited to)
Provide 1:1 hands-on support to students with special needs
Assist teachers with instruction for academics, life skills and self-help skills
Attend all classes and related services with students to provide support in all areas including the community
Engage children in learning activities and implementing behavior plans, communication plans, and functional programs
Support all staff by collecting and recording data on student progress
Requirements:
Two years of University credits in a related field preferred. Extensive related experience may be considered in lieu of education.
Prior experience with children in a school setting; special education preferred, but not required.
Ability to follow teacher direction and written plans, and work effectively in a team setting to meet individual student needs.
Appropriate organizational and oral / written communication skills.
Willingness to work with necessary office or classroom equipment / technology.
Physical ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Pay Rates: The anticipated starting rates for this position are as follows based on the highest degree achieved:
High School: starting $19.00 to $20.00
Associates/60+ college credits: $21.50 to $24.00
Bachelor's: $22.00 to $24.50
Master's: $22.50 to $25.00

What You'll Do

Interact with children at all times in a nurturing and developmentally appropriate way, while encouraging self-help.

Level I NYS Teacher Assistant Certification preferred.
