RESPONSIBILITIES
SUMMARY: Perform a full range of educational/non-educational duties for the specific intensive needs of primarily one student.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Provide instructional and behavioral support in all academic and related areas as directed by the teacher primarily for an individual student.
Provide support to special education teacher such as preparing materials, assist in the implementation of IEP (Individualized Education Plan), provide input into the IEP when appropriate, deliver instructional materials for individual students, keep attendance and activity records, collect data for progress monitoring, and implement behavior intervention plans.
Administer all medications, within the guidelines of District Policy JLCD to students and document appropriately as identified in District policy. District Area Nurse will delegate medication administration to Para-Educator. Para-Educator will follow medication administration protocols and guidelines under the Department of Health Services and will be monitored, documented, and audited by the District Area Nurse.
Perform assigned lunch/recess/bus duties which include supervision in the cafeteria, playground and pre/post boarding of buses.
Perform health and personal need duties as directed by teacher or nurse, including bathroom assistance, diapering, feeding and lifting students.
Apply de-escalation strategies and manage classroom behavior.
Perform restraints, if required or applicable, after attending district approved trainings.
Participate in required Medicaid and Random Moment in Time Study provider trainings. Document personal care and/or delegated nursing services on a regular basis in EZEDMed system for Medicaid reimbursement purposes.
Maintain confidential information as directed.
Provide support for any student as directed.
Attend district-provided trainings and professional development as directed.

What we want you to do:
Teach in an infant/toddler or preschool classrooms as needed in a professional manner by actively participating as a teacher in classrooms as assigned
Provide support to classroom teachers in execution of classroom duties and student engagement
Assist in the supervision of 8-16 students with the classroom which may include some students with disabilities and or behavioral difficulties
Follow the Conscious Discipline model for effective teaching and learning
Effectively implement Educare's core features within the classroom

Provide routine care for students such as changing diapers or assisting with toileting

What you must have:
Education: Must possess a level 2 certification in the PDIS system AND have completed ECE 101 and ECE 103 OR have a EQIT Certification
Experience: Previous experience working in early childhood education or a related field is preferred
Skills: Pediatric first aid, CPR, experience working with young children, knowledge of child development principles, ability to use technology in a professional setting, including Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Teams, and other software and applications required by the role
Background Check: Must be able to pass a background check, including CBI/FBI fingerprinting, motor vehicle/driving record (MVR), CO state child abuse and neglect registry check, a national sex offender registry check, and reference checks.
Other: Ability to work flexible hours, valid driver's license and proof of auto insurance

Position Purpose
(1) Assist certified professional staff with students in the classroom and social environments to meet instructional and social-emotional goals and objectives while contributing positively to the district culture. (2) Assist in food preparation, serving and clean up in the school cafeteria. Essential Job Functions
