Instructs students in reading strategies, writing processes, speaking and listening skills, as well as principles of responsible citizenship and other subjects as specified in applicable laws and district procedures.
Continues professional development in literacy education, reading research, and elementary ELA best practices by attending workshops, seminars, professional meetings, and staying current with educational research.
Organizes and maintains accurate record-keeping systems for student reading levels, writing portfolios, assessment data, grades, and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws.
Encourages parental involvement in students' literacy development through regular communication about reading progress, at-home reading activities, and student achievements in ELA.
Establishes and maintains classroom management standards that support a literacy-rich environment and promotes positive behavior conducive to learning and academic growth.
Collaborates with other 3rd grade teachers and ELA specialists to evaluate curriculum effectiveness, share best practices, and participates in grade-level meetings, faculty meetings, and curriculum committees.
Selects and requisitions appropriate books, literacy materials, technology resources, and supplies to support diverse reading levels and learning styles, maintaining accurate inventory records.
