DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Delivers instruction in reading, writing, spelling, language and vocabulary, math, science, social studies, technology, counseling, study skills, health, problem solving, foreign languages, ESL, family and consumer sciences, physical education, music, chorus. * Determines instruction techniques, strategies, methods and adapts curriculum and learning styles to meet and assess student's needs. * Performs clerical duties including attendance record keeping, copying, cutting, filing, ordering of supplies, and the like as well as computer software skills. * Maintains open lines of communication with parents/guardians about academic and discipline issues through various mediums including phone calls, notes, progress reports, etc. * Develops and creates classroom displays, storing materials, cleaning and organizing of tables and shelves, disassembling of classroom at the end of the school year. * Develops activities and resources, strategies and methods for a variety of teaching, creating lesson plans and substitute teaching plans that are aligned learning objectives with the school guides. * Develops, analyzes, adjusts, and implements ILP for students to accommodate instruction based on assessment and determining correct assessment tool and appropriate level to use. * Demonstrates preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic and ability backgrounds. * Supervises students during emergency drills, assemblies, recreation periods, lunch periods, play periods, and field trips to include resolving conflicts. * Assesses and evaluates performance, behavior, and progress of students in grades, progress reports and assessing comprehension of learning objectives. * Participates in extra-curricular activities such as Meet the Teacher, ILP's Summatives, evening performances, or preparations and coordinating of any other aspect of public demonstration of student learning. * Maintains confidentiality of protected student and staff member information even after no longer employed or enrolled. * Organizes and plans fieldtrips, class parties. * Assists in the well-being of students the fundamental value in all decision making. * Contributes to professional growth of self and colleagues including sharing and planning curriculum, staying current with educational trends, and continuing professional growth to meet the state and school requirements including current teaching certificates. * Works collaboratively to achieve the overall purposes of the school program. * Maintains a classroom atmosphere conducive of learning. * Additional duties may be assigned as necessary. Duties of this position include but are not limited to: Classroom Management: · Assisting the teacher with maintaining a classroom environment conducive to effective learning. · Assisting with duties that require movement of students to areas on campus. · Maintaining classroom environment conducive to effective learning by utilizing approved school-wide classroom management techniques as needed. · Utilizing the Discipline Referral Chart in documenting and processing behavior issues. · Follow approved schedules and procedures for starting and ending classes, and the transitioning of students. · Understand all fire drill and lock down procedures. Knowledge of Subject Matter: · Communicating accurate knowledge of subject matter in a comprehensible manner using language and style appropriate to the learner. · Applying concepts, laws, and rules relevant to subject matter. · Demonstrating a breadth of subject matter knowledge that enables students to approach and relate topics from a variety of perspectives, interests, and points of view. · Using the current references, materials, and technologies of the subject field in a manner appropriate to the developmental stage of the learner. · Demonstrating the ability to check student comprehension of subject matter and providing accurate feedback to students. Planning For Instruction: · Assisting the teacher with the design of the academic program based on the assessed needs of students. · Assisting the teacher with preparation and implementation of lesson plans for students based on assessed needs and in accordance with the Academy's philosophy and curriculum system. Delivery of Instruction: · Providing academic assistance and support for individual and/or small groups of intervention students. · Assisting the teacher with effective utilization of media and technology. · Be available to step in as lead instructor in the absence of the lead classroom teacher. Assessment of Student Performance: · Assisting the teacher with administration of appropriate assessments designed to measure student progress. · Assisting the teacher with evaluating student progress on a regular basis and providing feedback to students. Communication: · Establishing and maintaining cooperative relations with other employees. · Assisting the teacher with establishing and maintaining open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning academic and behavioral progress of assigned students. · Assisting the teacher with preparing progress reports to school personnel and parents. · Utilizing approved methods and forms for out-of-classroom referrals. Professional Development Program: · Continuing professional growth through educational in-service, meetings, and required trainings. Other Responsibilities: · Assisting with climate counseling of students when available. · Assisting the teacher with taking necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, materials, equipment and facilities. · Assisting the teacher with ensuring that each student in the program has required records in his/her permanent record and/or portfolio. · Performing other responsibilities, as directed. This will include: lunch duty, recess duty and climate counseling. · Performing other duties as assigned by supervisor or Administrative staff. · Attend all aides meetings and professional development activities. · Record arrival time before entering classroom on Electronic Time Card in school office. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 1. High School Diploma or equivalent, AND 2. Associate's Degree, OR 3. 60 hours of college/university level course work, OR 4. Demonstrated proficiency on State assessment.

Born again Christian (Does not need to be a member of NPHX) and signed statement of faith. Minimum of 6 months of professional child care experience. High energy and the ability to work well with others. Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills. An understanding of child development. Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Be able to kneel, bend, squat, lift, push, pull, and carry children up to 70lbs. Must clear full background check and must have a negative TB test within the last year. Have dependable transportation. Educational Requirements High School Diploma or GED. Significant college credit in early childhood education or related field of study, CDA, or 6 hours of ECE credit preferred.
