The Substitute Teacher plays an essential role in the classroom by providing educational, social, and emotional development for all students by following the program standards of Educare of Omaha, Early Head Start, Sixpence, Nebraska Department of Education, and NAEYC. The Substitute Teacher enhances student learning during the period of absence of the regular classroom teacher. The Substitute Teacher is responsible for maintaining the program's educational requirement as well as meeting the children's individual needs.

⭐ EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent required .
Associate or Bachelor's degree in education (Early Childhood preferred) preferred.
An Active CDA, or willingness to obtain (if working 30 hours or more weekly)
Two years early childhood experience in a group setting preferred.
Must be able to pass a background check that meets compliance standards.

Position Purpose: The Homebound Teacher will serve school aged children who have been excluded from school for a variety of reasons, or are enrolled the Virtual School in OPS.This position includes working with students in Douglas County Youth Center (DCYC) and other Rule 18 schools. The teacher will also work with the classroom teacher to provide instruction that attempts to keep the student with his/her class. These students are verified with a disability through the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) process, while in the Homebound program.
Essential Performance Responsibilities

Duties include supervising and working with students both one on one and in small groups when needed, assisting the teacher in the lunchroom, and with toileting, transportation, and recreational activities in all areas of the building.
Specific Job Functions:
Support teachers in meeting the instructional, educational, behavioral, and social emotional needs of students with disabilities in the classroom.
Provide small group and /or individualized instruction to students with disabilities in accordance with the students' IEP and the supervising teachers' lesson plans.
Collect Instructional and behavioral data for all objectives being taught for each student.
Implements Behavior Intervention Plans for students with disabilities.
Assist during standardized testing to support state and local testing processes and policies.
Assist with preparation of daily lesson plan materials and make copies of material for students.
Monitor students' movement throughout the building to other classrooms, learning areas, and cafeteria.
Assists students with assistive technology devices, including communication devices, switches, and orthopedic devices needed for sitting, walking, or standing.
Must possess excellent teamwork skills and the ability to remain calm and patient at all times.
Perform personal care and hygiene tasks for special education students, including assisting students with feeding, toileting, lifting, and mobility.
Assist students with physical or mental disabilities with activities of daily living for the purpose of maximizing their ability to participate in school or learning activities.
