Position Description
All Content Teachers- facilitates students' development and acquisition of reading comprehension, persuasive and expository writing, creative writing grammar, and vocabulary skills. Under the supervision of the Head of School, the Social Studies Teacher develops a deep conceptual understanding of concepts aligned with New York State Next Generation Learning Standards. The teacher facilitates the successful implementation of a rigorous standards-based curriculum to ensure students master the standards and meet the academic goals and is responsive to the diverse learning needs of all students including general education, students with disabilities, and English Language Learners. The Social Studies teacher works with the school administrators to implement school procedures and policies and communicates with students, parents, guardians, and/or caregivers.
Position Duties and Expectations:
Prepare bi-weekly lesson plans and deliver an academically rigorous course of study aligned to our school's goals, curriculum and the New York State Next Generations Learning Standards
Ensure high levels of student engagement and achievement in accordance with our school's performance benchmarks.
Communicate high academic and behavioral expectations to our scholars
Create a classroom environment conducive to optimizing teaching and learning
Collect, analyze and report student performance data
Actively participate in professional development activities and participate in reflective practice and implement strategies to improve teaching and learning
Maintain a professional appearance and deportment.
Complete all classroom and school assignments and responsibilities in a timely and effective manner.
Work autonomously and creatively within school established guidelines and policies.
Use evaluative feedback as a tool for growth and development
Build collaborative relationships with colleagues, share teaching insights, and coordinate student learning.
Knowledge of office and educational software sufficient to function smoothly in a highly technology-based environment (including but not limited to Zoom, word processing, spreadsheet, database, email)

Qualifications:
Master's Degree or currently in a master's program with certification pending

Compensation and Benefits:
The compensation will be commensurate with level of experience and certification, to include a competitive base salary as well as health, dental, vision and 401 (K). MAJOR FUNCTIONS:
Under the direction of the Deputy Director of Educational Services and the Group/Lead Teacher, the Teacher Assistant assists in providing direct early childhood educational services to children between the ages of two (2) months and five (5) years of age.

The Kean University Child Care and Development Center provides quality care and education for the children of Kean students, faculty and staff. The Center is also open to the public and enrolls children from neighboring communities. We are pleased to announce the Center and Township of Union Public Schools have created a Preschool Program Partnership for Union Township children.
Under the supervision of the Director of the Child Care and Development Center, the Preschool Collaboration Teacher is responsible for the general supervision and management of fifteen three-year-old children with the assistance of one full-time teacher assistant. The Teacher plans and implements a program of developmentally appropriate experiences for children, demonstrating best early childhood practices. They supervise assistants and student teachers, communicate with parents, attend professional development events to maintain professional competency and perform related work as required. All practices must be consistent with guidelines put forth by the Kean University Child Care and Development Center, College of Education, the National Association for the Education of Young Children, NJ Preschool Teaching and Learning Standards and the Township of Union Public Schools Preschool Program.
This is a ten-month position effective September 1st to June 30th annually. This position is based at the Kean Child Care and Development Center located on Kean's Union campus. Funding for this position is provided by the Township of Union Public Schools Preschool Program. Continuation of employment is contingent upon this funding source.
Qualifications: Possession of a valid New Jersey Teacher's Certificate of Pre-School through 3rd Grade (Standard, Provisional Certificate of Eligibility with Advanced Standing or Certificate of Eligibility) or Permanent Endorsement, issued by the Board of Examiners of the New Jersey Department of Education is required.
In addition to undergoing a pre-employment physical and successfully completing background screening checks, this position also has physical requirements. These include: the ability to constantly move, stand, sit, bend and kneel for short and long periods of time, hand dexterity and the ability to lift and move up to 40 pounds; ability to assume postures in low levels to allow physical and visual contact with children, see and hear to ensure children's health and safety and engage in physical activities with children; and the ability to work indoors and outdoors. Responsibilities
Build an inclusive, positive classroom culture that promotes creativity, respect, and artistic exploration.
Develop strong, supportive relationships with students and families that reflect high expectations and genuine care.
Plan and deliver rigorous, engaging, and standards-aligned visual arts instruction.
Differentiate lessons to support a wide range of learners, including students with IEPs, multilingual learners, and advanced artists.
Teach across multiple art mediums, balancing both creative process and technique.
Use portfolios, projects, and performance-based assessments to track student growth and guide instruction.
Maintain a safe, organized, and inspiring studio space that encourages collaboration and critical thinking.
Work closely with colleagues to integrate the arts across the curriculum and support whole-child development.
Lead the curation and display of student artwork for school events, exhibitions, and community celebrations.
Be present and fully engaged each day from 7:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.
Qualifications
Valid New Jersey Teacher Certification or CE/CEAS in Art Education (required)
Bachelor's degree (required); Master's degree (preferred)
At least two years of teaching experience (preferred)
Strong communication, collaboration, and classroom management skills
Demonstrated ability to foster creativity and engagement across grade levels
Organized, reflective, and committed to continuous growth

The Job:
SmartStart Education seeks small group Middle School Math and ELA Tutors to work with small groups of middle school students. Each small group consists of 1-4 students. Each group consists of students who have been identified as students who are struggling with fundamental math or ELA skills. Students are in 6th through 8th grade.
The tutor will work with each group several times throughout the week at a middle school in Brooklyn, NY. Groups will take place within the classroom (push-in services) or outside of the classroom (pull-out services). Tutors should be flexible and comfortable with both settings. Each tutor will be given the responsibility of taking daily attendance using a personal device (mobile phone) or a school issued laptop.

Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in any field is mandatory. ***Please note that applications with anticipated graduation dates will not be considered.
Demonstrated experience of at least one year in teaching or tutoring, either within a school environment or another educational setting.
Comprehensive understanding of the unique challenges faced by urban students, schools, and communities, encompassing racial disparity, socio-economic disparity, and cultural disparity.
Mastery of middle school math and/or ELA concepts and skills, substantiating proficiency in the subject matter.
Display of genuine passion and unwavering commitment towards fostering the success of students.
Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is preferred, although not required.
Exemplary punctuality, ensuring timely attendance and adherence to established schedules.
Proficiency in communication skills, enabling effective and articulate interaction with students, colleagues, and interested parties.
Ability to comfortably commute to the designated location.
