    Job Description ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP Part-time Contract Employee through Hot Springs School District Reports to: OCC Residential Services Director and/or OCYFS Executive Director Last Revised: 2012 Position Summary: The Certified Teaching position will assist OCC shelter residents with maintaining their assigned public-school grade level while improving social and life skills necessary to be successful in school and in the community. Standardized academic assessments of youth will guide scholastic initiatives, physical education and remediation activities provided. Program goals are to improve student's academic performance, enhance their knowledge regarding the world of work, provide health and nutrition information, and to expand awareness of world community through hands-on enrichment opportunities. Program goals and funding are determined by Hot Springs School District in compliance with Title I-Part D Services through Arkansas Department of Education. Duties and Responsibilities: • Develop and coordinate an overall educational enrichment program for shelter residents during the school year. • Assess youth at intake and each 20 days in reading and math utilizing the APEX website. • Maintain sign-in sheet as documentation of each class period. • Maintain behavior progress notes on each youth's behavior during the education programs. • Work closely with Youth Advocates who provide additional assistance during class time. QUALIFICATIONS • Teaching Certificate Required, prefer K-12 or 5-9 grades, special education a plus. • Pass a drug screen and maintain current TB card. • Must have a current Arkansas Driver's license and insurable under OCC's commercial vehicle insurance policy. • Must receive child maltreatment clearance through the Arkansas Child Maltreatment Central Registry. • Must receive adult maltreatment clearance through the Arkansas Protective Services-Adult Maltreatment Central Registry. • Must receive Arkansas State Police criminal background clearance as mandated by Arkansas Department of Human Services, Minimum Licensing Standards for Child Welfare Agencies.
