The SubstituteTeacher's job is to be available to substitute teach at least 4 days of each month school is in session (36 days each school year). Substitutes are called in advance, when possible. Often, however, illness occurs without notice so substitutes will be called the same day a substitute is needed. Substitutes rarely take over the classroom as a homeroom teacher (even when subbing for a homeroom teacher) but instead take on the roll of Class Instructor (or Teacher's Aide). Substitutes will teach a reading, math, and spelling group so they need to be trained in Direct Instruction programs. Substitutes are also responsible for supervision of lunch, recess, and transitions to and from Art, PE, and groups. During DIBELS Benchmark Assessments in grades K-6, this specialist will be a part of the DIBELS Assessment Team and assist Administration in assessing all of the K-6 students using the DIBELS benchmark assessments. DIBELS responsibilities occur three times each school year - September, January, and May. If called to substitute during DIBELS assessments, substitute responsibilities would take priority.
Duties:
The following list of duties will give the applicant an idea of what duties may be required, but is not an inclusive list:
Attend Direct Instruction training in the summer
Accept opportunity to sub at least 4 days each month school is in session or as needed
Come in early to prepare to teach reading, math, and spelling groups (when called in advance to sub)
Read scripts, prepare copies, ask questions
Follow teacher instructions left for you
Keep American Prep classroom management standards high
Keep data and records in Data Binder
Supervise students during lunch time
Supervise students when out at recess
Report any problems to homeroom teacher or other applicable staff members
Attend all meetings (when applicable)
Work closely with staff members to ensure students are safe and engaged in learning
Qualifications
Education/Experience:
Organization - This employee will need to be prepared in a moments notice to substitute, when available. Phone calls and/or emails from staff should be responded to immediately (when called the morning of) or within a 4-hour timeline (when called in advance). Being able to coordinate home, family, work, and school responsibilities requires good organization skills and is required for this position.
Work Ethic - This employee must be willing to work at least 4 days per month throughout the entire school year. Hours may or may not be stable, as the number of subbing opportunities change from week to week. Because Administration is busy running the day-to-day operations of the school, there will be little to no Administrative oversight as to whether you fulfill your commitment to work 4 days per month. An excellent work ethic is vital to success in this position.
Initiative - This employee must be willing to work whenever needed. They should be comfortable asking questions when clarifications are needed, doing what is asked and also what may not be asked but still needs to be done. This person will do everything within their power to work enthusiastically whenever called upon to work. This person will take the initiative to step up and do all he/she can to ensure the students get a quality education when teachers or instructors are absent.
Positive Attitude - This employee should have a positive attitude, a ready smile, a happy disposition, and a sense of humor in times of stress. A cheerful can-do attitude when asked to go above and beyond is essential for success in this position.
Flexibility and Willingness - This employee should be flexible to step in and work even when things change at the last minute. Working with both Academic Directors to ensure that excellent teaching and instruction happens in a teacher's absence is also an important requirement. A willingness to travel between campuses to fill in vacancies is also required. Willingness to put as much time in as needed is fundamental to success in this position.
Desire to Clear the Way - It is the SubstituteTeacher's job to make sure the classroom teacher or instructor feels supported when their partner is absent. A desire and willingness to do what it takes to lighten the load and clear the way for the teacher or instructor is paramount to this job.
Teachable - This employee must be willing to ask questions if they are not sure of what is expected of them. They should also be willing to listen to input from Administration as to mission, vision, and philosophy that would be most effective or applicable to student success. Willingness to work closely and in harmony with other staff members (accepting their input and direction) is required.

Many of our participants accept full time seminary teaching positions within central or northern Utah, Idaho or Arizona.
This application is the first step in the process individuals must complete to be considered for employment in Seminaries and Institutes. The process consists of the following:

Teaching Seminary

2. Participate in a brief (3-4 days) teaching practicum in a local seminary. After completion, by invitation only, move onto step 3.
3. Student Teach for 1 to 2 semesters. Teaching will be no more than 2 classes in the semester. The typical student teacher assignment is a 15-20 hour per week position.
During this time, student teachers continue the training process and are assessed and evaluated throughout as they are considered for employment.
Decisions about full-time employment are made by the administration of Seminaries and Institutes in Salt Lake City. Decisions about part-time employment are made by local S&I administrators and depend on current demand. There are always more student teachers than there are openings in any given year.

Schedule
Seminary instructors are expected to work the time necessary to accomplish their assigned teaching and administrative responsibilities. Full-time seminary instructors are not eligible for overtime.
Full-time Workload
Those in a trimester system should teach four of the five trimester classes each trimester. Those in the eight-period block system should teach six of the eight classes each semester. Those in a seven-period day should teach a minimum of six classes.
When possible, the student to teacher ratio should be approximately 150-180 to one. It is recommended that there be no more than thirty-five students per class.
Qualifications
(Seminary) Bachelor's degree from an approved and accredited institution of higher learning, the successful completion of meticulous religious teacher training (preservice) and student teaching.

Job Description - Registered Behavior Technician
Under the direction of a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), the Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) provides clinical skills instruction and behavior reduction protocols based upon the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to children with autism and related developmental disabilities in the home, community, and/or school settings.

Work one-on-one with children to implement ABA-based intervention plans.
Prepare for each session by:
Setting up materials
Reviewing previous notes and graphs
Familiarizing themselves with the treatment program, schedule, and goals, prior to each client's session.

Complete the session by updating parents/caregivers and writing a timely session note.
Detailed Responsibilities
Consistently implement treatment plans with fidelity (under BCBAs direction) across a wide variety of domains, such as toilet training, communication, social, and adaptive living skills
Collect and maintain accurate session data and clinical notes using data collection software.
Communicate appropriately and effectively with colleagues and families.
Provide progress updates to parents/caregivers and communicate effectively with the BCBA regarding learner's progress
Review and implement consultation/supervision note recommendations
Assist with parent training and clinical assessments as needed.
Participate in ongoing training, evaluations, and team meetings.
Work ethically and with integrity while following the BACB Ethical Code, HIPAA regulations, and adhere to company policies and procedures to ensure professional integrity.

Track supervision hours and annually renew the RBT certification as mandated by the BACB to maintain the certification.

Job Description
Discovery Ranch South is dedicated to fostering an enriching educational environment within our therapeutic treatment center for young women. We are currently seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Science Teacher's Aide (TA) to support our educational team in delivering engaging and effective science instruction in Biology, Earth Science and Chemistry to our 7 - 12th grade students.
The Science Teacher's Aide will work closely with our licensed Science Teacher to assist with classroom instruction, help students access learning materials, and provide one-on-one support as needed. This role is vital in ensuring our students continue their academic progress while participating in therapeutic programs at Discovery Ranch South.
Responsibilities include creating a positive learning environment, assisting with lesson delivery, providing administrative support, and contributing to a holistic approach that addresses students' emotional, intellectual, and social needs.
Working hours are Monday to Friday, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
Requirements
Provide evidence of completing 48 college credit hours OR an Associate's Degree
21+ years of age
Eligible to work in the USA
Able to pass a background check
Able to pass a motor vehicle record check
Current Utah driver's license (within 30 days of employment)
CPR & First Aid certification (we provide)
Aegis certification (we provide)
Preferred Qualifications:
Some relevant college education in science fields
Experience working with teenagers in an educational or therapeutic setting
