We educate scholars at two campuses: Opportunity Academy Middle School and Independence Academy High School. Qualifications: - Holds an A.A./A.S. degree. - Speaks Spanish or has experience working with bilingual students (preferred, but not required). Our lessons engage students in rigorous, grade-level conceptual understandings and critical thinking skills. As an Intrepid College Prep Substitute Teacher, you will be part of an on-call pool that provides day-to-day instructional support in the absence of full-time teachers. This is an hourly, ad hoc position designed to ensure continuity of learning and maintain a safe, productive, and rigorous classroom environment when staff are out. Substitute teachers may be called upon to support classrooms in grades 5-12, covering both middle and high school. Assignments may vary by subject area and grade level depending on daily needs and availability. Coverage may range from single-day assignments to short-term placements (typically 1 to 10 consecutive days), depending on school needs and staff availability. Responsibilities: - Internalize, accommodate, and execute our rigorous, college-preparatory curriculum including daily lesson plans, unit plans, and the scope and sequence for one to two sections of instruction.- Support with school-wide coverage needs to ensure students receive quality instruction in instances when team members are out of the building due to absences. - Collaborate with our Support Teachers to ensure tremendous academic growth for EL students and students with disabilities.- Engage in a community where teaching is public (i.e. engaging in classroom visits, publication of curriculum, observation and feedback cycles).- Commit to a school culture of consistency by implementing school-wide systems, structures, and procedures.$120 per 7.5 hour day Commitment to DiversityIntrepid College Prep is an equal opportunity employer. All staff members are equipped with the tools needed to succeed, including a dedicated work space, laptop computer, email, high-speed internet access, and all necessary supplies. Compensation is highly competitive; teachers are eligible to participate in the MNPS Retirement System. Base salaries are determined by the ICP salary scale. Placement on the salary scale is determined by years of relevant, teaching experience. We do not negotiate salaries because of research that demonstrates the resulting impact of inequitable pay, primarily for women and people of color. Placement on the salary scale is solely determined by relevant experience. Starting salary (Year 0) for a teacher with zero years of experience starts at $51,292.
