Provide professional video production and post production services in support of the University's Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court webcast project. This position works part-time, nine (9) months with the possibility of hours in a tenth month depending on whether or not makeup sessions are needed.
Primary Responsibilities:
Execute the live webcast of the court session including operating a high definition switcher, 4+ cameras (some robotic), on-screen graphics overlay, audio mixing, digital encoding for live and archival streams and ensuring adequate operation of the closed captioning interface. This work is most often executed from the on on-site control room although some portable camera operations and audio mixing may be required at times. This includes monitoring the web stream for quality control and reporting any irregularities to the webcast manager immediately.
Starting up and testing all equipment prior to the webcast and during webcast test sessions. This includes ensuring proper audio/video output to all destinations including live encoding, archival recording and overflow locations. Troubleshooting all related equipment as necessary.
Immediately following live webcast, in post-production, edit the archival video file creating individuals files for each case heard during a session, export the files in the appropriate formats, title correctly and place the files on the server as directed. Other duties as assigned.

* Comfortable editing, transcoding and working with multiple video formats
* Experience with Imagine Communications StreamZ software is ideal.

If it's an on-campus event, work with University venue managers, building services, physical plant, catering, audiovisual, parking, public safety, business office, and other constituencies. If using non-University vendors, negotiate low prices on behalf of DIBI; negotiate terms of the agreement and facilitate University process for contractual agreements. Work with internal constituencies to prepare invitations and develop guest lists. Recruit, supervise and educate staff (volunteers) on relevant logistics of the events. Monitor progress of event preparations and expenditures. Adjust or make recommendations concerning master budget and timeline to ensure that events are successfully executed, event goals are achieved, and expenditures are within budget. Maintain DIBI events calendar of both internal and external events. Evaluate external events and provide analysis and recommendations for DIBI participation, including sponsorship opportunities, collaborations, public speaking, exhibitions, and other forms of event participation. Work with the Senior Director of Public Outreach to inform the DIBI engagement strategy and to proactively advise the DIBI team about events.
3) Event Assessment/Evaluation (10%)
Review and report on event evaluations, as appropriate. Create statistical reports of event outcomes. Conduct post-event reviews to identify areas of improvement in future event planning and follow up with key partners to integrate improvement ideas.
4) Establish Best Practices (10%)
Identify appropriate resources, e.g., professional experience, assessment/evaluation data, literature, other event managers, to develop a set of documents of best practices for delivery of accurate event procedures at the DIBI that strengthen and enhance the Institute and University image and support the organizational mission.

An earned doctorate degree in pharmacy or pharmaceutical sciences or a highly related field is required, at least 10 years of related experience, and candidates should be at, or eligible for, promotion to the rank of full professor (tenure on entry) or full clinical professor (non tenure track) by employment start date.

Responsibilities will include building an ETL pipeline for ENCODE genomics data, writing Python code for data analysis, and a downstream R pipeline for post-processing data using standard Bioinformatics libraries from Bioconductor. There will be opportunities to participate in building machine learning models, co-author publications, and contribute to grant proposals. Tentative start date: January 2024 for the Spring 2024 semester with possibilities of renewal. This work will contribute towards the understanding of genetic origins of complex diseases like Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and cutting-edge machine learning-based methodologies for regulation of mRNA splicing.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Building ETL pipelines for genomics/transcriptomics data from public databases and processing them with publicly available codes in python and R.
Documenting the entire process and all the codes generated and maintaining structured and regular commits in a GitHub repository.
Helped implement machine learning models and automate the processing of input data.
Write reports/prepare slide decks describing work performed.
Contribute to scientific manuscripts and grant proposals where appropriate.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Maintain comprehensive, accurate conditioning records. This includes creating performance testing reports for sports performance staff, coaches, and athletes. We are seeking interdisciplinary applicants who are practicing game developers with specific expertise in game production, user research, and game design. Applicants should have a passion for advancing the design and development of games through their teaching, mentorship, and leadership. Ideal candidates are active participants in the field with key contacts in the game industry, and experienced speakers/writers about their creative practice.
Successful candidates will teach existing courses in game production, game design, user research, and/or game studio courses. They will further help our game development students to manage their projects and successfully release and promote their games to audiences outside the University. The position involves curriculum development opportunities and collaboration with research faculty in games towards the creation of game development projects across art, health, AI, sustainability, aging, and other relevant domains.
Qualifications
A terminal degree in a games-related field (PhD or MFA) or equivalent professional experience in Games prior to the start date of the position is required. The duties and responsibilities of the position begin in August 2025. Experience with mentoring junior developers/student interns and hybrid delivery methods is preferred.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching courses in the graduate (GSND) and undergraduate (GAME) game programs. A full course load with a 1.0 FTE appointment will be 3 courses per semester (6 in total) with the opportunity to teach in the summer (May-August) for extra compensation. With a two-thirds time appointment, the course load is reduced to 2 courses per semester. The position's standard duties consist of 80% teaching, 10% service and 10% creative practice. Candidates should be open to the possibility of working with the department heads on delivering coursework in a hybrid learning format.
