Senior Accountant Job in Union, MO
Provides management with financial information by researching and analyzing general ledger activity, preparing financial statements, and internal management reporting by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger, ERP and other IT related systems.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
A minimum of at least 3-5 years of accounting experience is required, and experience performing accounting in a manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.
Experience with an ERP System
POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Demonstrated knowledge of full cycle accounting process, including familiarity and experience with financial accounting statements, general ledger functions, and the month-end/year-end close process/
Demonstrated advanced skills with MS Suite, including Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint, and Microsoft Excel, including V Lookups, pivot tables/charts, and advanced functions.
Demonstrated skill in maintaining accurate financial records and preparing clear and accurate reports for informational, auditing, and operational use.
Demonstrated skill in maintaining accounting records for special accounts and projects.
Demonstrated interpersonal and oral/ written communication skills with the ability to relate well and cooperate with other members of management and other departments.
Proficiency in consolidations of multi-location divisions with disparate financial and transactional systems.
Ability to interpret, apply and explain complex laws, codes, regulations, and ordinances.
Ability to make sound, independent judgments within established policies and procedures.
Ability to manage multiple concurrent assignments while meeting deadlines and demanding quality execution.
Ability to develop understanding of financial reporting to support process and transition to the accounting team.
Ability and desire to grow in the position and accept more responsibility.
Ability to take initiative in providing new ideas to improve process efficiencies.
Ability to maintain consistent attendance, arriving on time and prepared for all shifts, meetings, and appointments.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES, EXPECTATIONS, AND BEHAVIORS include, but are not limited to, the following:
Prepare and/or review monthly general journal entries, income and balance sheet statements, account reconciliations, and various other accounting statements and reports as appropriate to support an accurate and timely monthly financial close.
Prepare and/or review monthly variance analyses.
Maintaining integrity of general ledger transactions and account reconciliations.
Ensure that the general ledger is closed within the timelines of the Company's closing schedule.
Ensure that all financial statements are presented in accordance with United States Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP) and appropriate financial variance analyses are provided timely to management.
Assist and support annual external audits.
Provide, suggest, support and implement alternatives to work processes that will increase efficiencies and quality of financial results including automation and/or implementation of consolidations reporting tool.
Document, develop, and implement best in class accounting processes.
Partner with other finance and non-finance groups to support design and implement best in in class business processes.
Assist in administering and enforcing accounting policies and procedures.
Effectively communicate and escalate issues and information to Controller.
Understand general departmental processes to be able to identify unusual transactions or issues and provide timely communication to the VP/Controller to support an effective resolution.
Provide general assistance and support to the VP/Controller by preparing ad hoc reports and financial analysis.
In office attendance is an essential function of this position.
