Summary/Job Purpose:
Manages the portfolio and develops strategy with senior management to ensure achievement of profit and revenue goals for our property segment. Recruits, develops and retains qualified underwriting and support staff. Manages and controls underwriting processes to ensure that standards for quality, compliance underwriting are achieved. Monitors, recommends, and implements improvements in business process to ensure effective and efficient work flows are maintained and customer service levels are achieved.
Essential Functions:
Manages the portfolio including contributing to the development, implementation and monitoring of MSIG USA's Wholesale Property business plan to achieve goals of the organization for profitability and growth;
Underwrites and maintains own book of business;
Assigns underwriting authority to direct reports based on expertise and effectively manages process with National Underwriting in conjunction with own letter of underwriting authority;
Manages work assignments for staff to achieve service goals and balanced workloads including appropriately assigning staff responsibility for agencies and accounts based upon knowledge and experience;
Manages the Account Management process as appropriate for prospective and in force accounts in conjunction with Risk Engineering, Claims and Marketing;
Manages and develops staff in accordance with corporate plans/policies including administration of the Performance Management process as reflected in Supervisory Responsibilities noted below.
Tracks, monitors and reports on loss activity, marketing activity, GWP achievement, budget/operational issues on a monthly basis and other adhoc reporting as requested.
Implements and manages quality control processes including conducting departmental self-audits and manages self-audit process including reporting and implementing/monitoring of corrective actions in a timely and effective manner to ensure compliance with MSIG USA's Underwriting Guidelines. Identifies and implements training and development needs based on self-audit trends
Works with underwriting and marketing staff to develop and manage Zone producer relationships
Handles customer-related issues between outside parties and internal units to drive optimal customer service.

Position Overview:
As an expanding and critical area in the insurance industry, catastrophe modeling plays a key role in protecting insureds from the impacts of climate change. MSMM is seeking a motivated individual with strong analytical skills and an interest in quantitative analysis to join our Catastrophe Modeling team.
The Catastrophe Modeling Analyst will work closely with experienced modelers to perform account-level modeling for the company's property portfolio using vendor software (AIR) and internal tools. This role involves collecting, analyzing, and ensuring the quality of property data, as well as supporting underwriters with outputs needed for informed risk decisions. Additional responsibilities include portfolio-level analysis for PML calculations, property aggregations, profitability, and trend indications.
Essential Functions:
Perform account-level property catastrophe modeling and assist underwriters with day-to-day requests.
Review and validate high-impact account modeling results; support initiatives to improve modeling efficiency.
Identify and monitor aggregate exposures to mitigate potential losses from extreme events (e.g., hurricanes, earthquakes, wildfires).

Compensation Details

Department Overview:

Compensation Details
The salary range for this role is $185,000-$190,000. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. As a way to help maximize your experience with us, Summer Analysts receive formal performance reviews.
In addition to performing fundamental analysis and research into companies and markets, Summer Analysts are challenged to think creatively, offer their input, and add value to the team from day one. Summer Analyst responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Performing financial valuation, discounted cash flow and multiples-based analyses
Building and using financial models
Preparing pitchbooks and live deal materials, such as offering memorandums and prospectuses
Conducting industry and product research
Analyzing detailed corporate and financial information
Participating in the execution of financings and M&A transactions
What we look for in a candidate
We look for candidates who are eager to make an impact by doing real, hands-on work and participating on active deal teams. Successful Jefferies Summer Analysts are able to multitask and manage a variety of projects simultaneously. Candidates must demonstrate professionalism and client management skills together with strong technical, written and verbal communication skills. The work is fast paced, challenging and intellectually stimulating. The ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines, be adaptable and work both independently and as part of a team are essential traits of a successful candidate. You should have a strong academic background and be completing the junior year of a four-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent program. Although a background in accounting or finance can be helpful, we hire Summer Analysts who have studied a variety of disciplines.
Eligible candidates must be graduating between December 2027 and June 2028.
You must be a native Spanish speaker.

GROUP DESCRIPTION: Jefferies Investment Banking Latin America Group provides a full suite of advisory and capital markets capabilities to clients across a number of sectors in Latin America.
POSITION: The Latin American Group is actively looking for a Summer Analyst for our New York office to help support the Latin American team. Many companies are headquartered in the region, and multiple International companies have operations or are planning to start operations in Latin America, and the region is experiencing significant economic growth. The candidate will be working closely with the Head of the Latin America Group and other Managing Directors with a focus on a region with significant M&A, equity and debt deal activity in various industries. The candidate will also have the opportunity to learn how to be a calling officer and will ultimately have the ability to call on private and public companies over the next several years.
