Summa Health company history timeline
Formed in 1989 with the merger of Akron City and St Thomas Hospitals, this nonprofit system now encompasses a network of hospitals, community-based health centers, a health plan, a multi-specialty group practice, an accountable care organization, research and medical education, and a foundation.
The seven-story patient tower opened to the public in 2019. Its ground floor is also home to the Doctor Gary B. and Pamela S. Williams Center for Breast Health, which was named in the couple’s honor following a separate $5 million donation in 2017.
