Summary:
Coordinates and expedites patients through the Emergency Department while balancing patient workload and acuity evenly among various nursing zones. Provides bed assignments for incoming emergency department patients; communicates intradepartmental patient movement to emergency registrars; collaborates with charge physician when problems or bottlenecks occur; provides direct patient care to maintain patient flow.
Formal Education Required:
a. Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN)
* Applicants with an Associate's degree will be considered but are required to obtain BSN within three (3) years of employment
b. Graduate of a program of professional nursing that is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN)
c. Current license to practice registerednursing in the State of Ohio
Experience and Training Required:
a. Three (3) years nursing experience in an emergency department.
b. Current license to practice nursing in the State of Ohio
c. Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
d. Current TNCC (Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum) certification for required work locations
e. Current NVCI certification for required work locations

The RN Care Manager may be assigned to a variety of areas such as the Emergency Room or as a member of a Care Coordination team.
