Summary:
Participates with the care teams in Summa Health to provide patient focused care. Is able to maintain and adapt to daily operations, interpret and execute provided instructions, and work reliably with professionalism in a medical office environment.
Formal Education Required:
a. Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program
Experience & Training Required:
a. One (1) year related medical office experience; or externship; or associated experience or education
Other Skills, Competencies and Qualifications:
a. Knowledge of medical terminology.
b. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and EMR.
c. Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team.
d. Maintain HIPAA confidentiality.
e. Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients with an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity.
f. Ability to travel between locations as needed within the medical group.
g. Required ability to handle bodily fluids and possible exposure to communicable disease.
h. For SHMG (medical group) employees: Ability to obtain Basic Life Support certification within six months of hire with Summa Health and ability to maintain the BLS certification.
i. Must pass yearly clinical skill competencies

MA/CMA: Current Medical Assistant certification/registration as CCMA, CMA (AAMA), NCMA, RMA (through AMT)
or
completion of KHMG Medical Assistant Training Program or MA program through an accredited institution of higher learning and successful attainment of certification/registration within 15 months of hire.
LPN: Graduate of accredited LPN program (or equivalent) with current Ohio license.
Medical assistants who are not certified or registered at the time of hire will be restricted from administering medication and entering Epic orders until the required credentials are obtained and verified. Examples of medical assistants who are not certified/registered:

MA who has completed an accredited program but has not passed the certification exam
