Under the supervision of the provider and/or practice manager, assists and delivers patient care duties, and provides administrative support throughout the practice. This position assists the provider in examination and treatment of patients, performing miscellaneous delegated duties under the direction of provider. This position also interviews patients, measures vital signs, and records information in patients' charts. Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients. The position will be cross-trained to perform duties to enhance efficiency and continuity of delivery of patient care.
MA/CMA: Current MedicalAssistant certification/registration as CCMA, CMA (AAMA), NCMA, RMA (through AMT)
or
completion of KHMG MedicalAssistant Training Program or MA program through an accredited institution of higher learning and successful attainment of certification/registration within 15 months of hire.
LPN: Graduate of accredited LPN program (or equivalent) with current Ohio license.
Medicalassistants who are not certified or registered at the time of hire will be restricted from administering medication and entering Epic orders until the required credentials are obtained and verified. Examples of medicalassistants who are not certified/registered:
MA with on the job training only
MA who has completed an accredited program but has not passed the certification exam
MA who has a lapsed/expired certification
STNAs or CNAs with at least 6 months of direct patient care experience
Preferred Qualifications
1-year clinical experience in a medical/physician office setting required
Practical knowledge in the following areas is preferred: examination process, diagnostic and treatment room procedures, medical equipment and instruments, safety hazards and precautions, confidentiality/discretion.
Experience with use of electronic medical records preferred.

The MedicalAssistant is responsible for:
Assists physician in examinations.
Give instructions to patients as instructed by physician.
Takes blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration.
Stock rooms with adequate medical supplies, wash and dry instruments, and prepare sterilization as required.
Assist with any procedures that have been taught through formal training or by licensed nurse or physician(s).
Keeps medical records in accordance to procedures and forms.
Follows principles of medical ethics.
Any other duties relating to the business operation of the medical practice that may be assigned by the physician(s) or practice office manager.
Requirements
Must either have six months experience as a MedicalAssistant, OR, have graduated from an accredited MA or Medical Office Management program that meets nationally accepted standards.
Within 15 months from date of hire, continued employment will require successful attainment and retention of one of the following certification/registration CCMA, CMA (AAMA), NCMA, RMA (through AMT) or RMA (through ARMA) plus documented completion of a MedicalAssisting program through an accredited institution of higher learning.
Ability to float between a variety of practices in the Dayton area.
