Summit Fire Protection company history timeline

1999

Since 1999, Summit has been a leader in the fire and life safety space.

Summit Fire Protection was founded in 1999, is headquartered in St Paul, MN and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of SFP Holding, Inc.

2001

The two-department merged into Summit Fire and Medical District in 2001.

In an effort to provide a higher level of medical care to our growing community, all full time employees who were not already Emergency Medical Technicians or Paramedics became EMT's in 2001.

The units feature 300 gallon water tanks, 350 gpm pumps driven by a separate diesel engine and have 20 gallons of Class A foam concentrate which is injected via a Foam Pro 2001 system.

2002

In 2002 our Station 2, 2507 Spring Arbor Road was demolished and a new station constructed in its place.

2004

The budget in 2004 was $1.5 million, and the department handled nearly 700 emergency calls annually.

2006

In 2006 Summit Fire and Medical District started providing service to the Fort Valley area, increase the service delivery area to 90 square miles and 12,000 residents.

2010

In 2010, the Board of Fire Commissioners voted to change the name to Woodinville Fire & Rescue.

In 2010, after more than 30 years of service, our last volunteer firefighter retired from service.

2015

In December of 2015, the governing board of the SFMD entered into an Intergovernmental Agreement with the City of Flagstaff (COF) for management services of the District.

2016

In January of 2016 Summit Fire and Medical District entered into a two-year Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) with the City of Flagstaff to share the services of the Fire Chief.

2017

2017 total calls (combined from Lake Dillon Fire and Copper Mountain Fire): 3,003

2018

Through the success of that initial cooperative agreement, the SFMD and the COF expanded and extended the IGA. In September of 2018 the IGA was extended for another 5 years.

In 2018, Lake Dillon Fire and Copper Mountain Fire officially joined operations under the Summit Fire & EMS Authority.

2019

In 2019, Summit Fire joined forces with the Summit County Ambulance Service under a joint-operations agreement with Summit County, with the formal merger slated for Jan.

2021

In 2021, Summit Fire Protection Company had no reported payment issues on 100% of projects.
