The Ophthalmic Technician will train other assistants and act as a scribe for the physician. Examples of Duties (List does not include all duties assigned) Can take an ocular and systemic history and accurately record visual acuity. Can perform lensometry, refractometry, basic muscle balance testing, tonometry, assess pupils, confrontation visual fields and gross external exam. Administer diagnostic tests. Make introductions and establish rapport with patients. Initiate patient evaluation, documenting the chief complaint, history of present illness, review of systems, and all pertinent ocular findings accurately and in accordance with compliance guidelines. Also assists with patient education.
