Job Description
Summit Central Lab is seeking a Lab Processor / Phlebotomist to join their team. This is a full time opportunity, working 1:00pm-11:30pm Monday - Friday with rotating weekday off.
Examples of Duties (List does not include all duties assigned)
Adheres to established policies and procedures, including OSHA and CLIA, and company established protocols.
Performs phlebotomy for patients scheduled for laboratory tests in a timely and clinically appropriate manner.
Promptly attends to specimens that are received in the laboratory. Processes STATs in a timely manner and delivers to the technologist for testing as soon as possible.
Notifies supervisor(s) of problems related to processing.
Answers telephone requests in a timely and professional manner.
Performs processing, ordering, and releasing of tests in the laboratory information system (LIS) with minimal errors.
Labels specimens accurately.
Accurately routes specimens to the appropriate laboratory testing area.
Prepares specimens to be sent to outside reference laboratories, including looking for additional specimens or an alternative specimen to be sent.
Completes “testing issues” and handles appropriately.
Scans in specimens and requisitions into the scanning systems.
Leaves work area clean and organized. Promptly cleans up specimen spills according to OSHA guidelines.
Interacts in a cooperative manner with supervisors, co-workers, physicians and the public.
Adheres to all appropriate aspects of the corporate compliance program.
Maintains strictest confidentiality.
Actively participates in site-level Quality Improvement Activities. Each employee will contribute to the continual evaluation site performance as well as the
implementation and measurement of improvement activities that increase the quality of care provided to patients.
Performs related work as assigned.
Education
High school diploma (or equivalent) required. Post-secondary studies in phlebotomy or clinical assisting program preferred.
Experience
