This position manages a regional team of SBA loan officers and develops their goals, marketing plans, strategies, and programs. The SBL Regional Sales manager engages with clients directly to ensure their individual needs are met and to understand the wider needs of the small business community and industry within the region and works directly with customers in providing more complex loans associated with the SBA and other federal or state government loan guarantee programs GENERAL: * Generates new business through prospecting, outside calling, networking and referrals. Makes a substantial number of outside, in-person calls on prospects and clients requiring extensive automobile travel. * Manages quality control within the region and ensures loans files are complete with no material pre-screening errors. * Supervises the review loan submissions for compliance with SSB loan underwriting standards. Identifies areas of weakness and provides training to the loan origination teams to eliminate misrepresentations in the market and inefficiencies for the bank. * Communicates effectively with senior management along with designated personnel to assure quarterly funding and quality control objectives are satisfied. * Calls and visits target customers and referral sources to promote and sell establishment products and services. * Promotes and cross-sells other establishment products and services as appropriate to customer requirements, such as business and personal depository services. * Compiles and analyzes market research data in order to develop or increase the competitiveness of current product and services offering. * Identifies and analyzes potential loan markets to develop prospects for establishment product and services offerings. * Provides loan data to support marketing and sales promotion programs. * May be asked to provide secondary support for various portfolio management, loan servicing and liquidation activities. * Works to foster new and expand existing customer relationships through cross-selling products and services. * Develops and maintains a referral source database for both local and the bank overall SBA marketing purposes. * Maintains and applies a thorough understanding of the bank's credit policy, SBA eligibility and all necessary business practices to ensure the submission of accurate and complete loan application packages. * Generates loans that maintain an acceptable level of performance. Assists special assets and credit services in any requested servicing action within assigned marketing area. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES * Provide guidance and training to staff. * Actively participate in recruiting efforts for the region * Ensure adequate cross-training and coverage. * Promote high morale and dedication to one's work among staff, and low absenteeism. * Conduct employee performance evaluations * With the concurrence of the HR Director, implement corrective action plans, as needed. In this position, the incumbent provides an expert level of analysis of commercial borrower, guarantor, and affiliate parties to determine risk involved in lending money to new and existing commercial and industrial (C&I) and commercial real estate (CRE) clients. The underwriter structures and defends recommendations on terms, pricing, collateral, and conditions and presents to credit approvers. Construction Lending: perform general contractor analysis and qualification and build and maintain budget spreadsheet. * Well versed in accurately analyzing and structuring non- stabilized situations. Including but not limited to interrogating the assumptions in borrower projections, expanded analysis of external cash flow sources and uses, liquidity, and developing appropriate covenants around milestones. * Review and analyze appraisal assumptions and methodologies; reconcile valuation to proposed structure incorporated into Bank credit authorization. Evaluate all collateral on all secured loans, including but not limited to title review (commitment/policies, lien position, exception, easements, UCC) and environmental due diligence and prepare reports of findings. * Work directly with Lenders/Relationship Managers and, when needed, Borrowers to discuss issues, ask questions and make financial and covenant recommendations as necessary. * Work closely with all parties to assist in timely processing, credit approval, and closing of loan requests, and partner with Loan Operations to ensure procedures are followed for closing and funding. Coordinate draw funding with loan operations on construction loans. * Perform annual term loan reviews and covenant testing; clear financial and covenant ticklers; draft waiver requests when required; and, if a default is triggered, refer the RM to coordinate default letter with Special Assets Manager. * Work independently with little or no oversight on low to moderately complex duties. * Work closely with Senior Credit Administrator and Chief Credit Officer on highly complex issues. * Position is considered experienced and may be expected to provide training, coaching and mentoring. * Other duties may be assigned.
