About the Role:
The Field Mechanic with MYR Group you'll travel to project sites across the designated service area, supporting our field teams. You'll use your skills to perform maintenance, preventive maintenance, and minor equipment repairs safely and professionally. Like every team member, we will rely on you to provide exceptional customer service to internal customers.
This position requires significant travel in the state of Texas, (including overnight) to project locations, supporting teams to ensure successful operation of the equipment. At times, the Mechanic will be required to respond to emergencies outside regular work hours and work overtime including weekends and holidays. To support these travel requirements, a company vehicle, fuel card, and lodging will be provided.

Essential Functions
This is considered an advance-level skilled or career level position
Perform mechanic assignments using independent judgment to make decisions requiring the application of procedures and practices to specific work situations
Perform a full range of servicing and repairs on various types of fleet equipment, including malfunctioning parts and systems. Ensure compliance with manufacturer guidelines and company schedules
Frequently travel to customer job sites for repair/maintenance of equipment. Must maintain service vehicle in a clean and professional manner
May provide oversight for less experienced mechanics
Perform routine and preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs
Identify mechanical problems either visually or with computer diagnostic equipment
Maintain records of time and materials used on each job, the condition of the equipment, and the repairs performed
Track information in computer software; ensure repair orders and weekly timesheets are complete and accurate
Conduct safety inspections of equipment and prepare safety documentation
Work in accordance with DOT, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Interstate Authority, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and other rules and regulations as required
Participate in training programs; maintain and update safety skills and knowledge; keep current with hazardous material training requirements
Other duties as assigned

About You:
Qualifications
Must have three to five years of experience in general mobile heavy truck repair, automotive repair, or equipment repair; equivalent trade school/technical school time may be applied toward this requirement OR have completed a vocational/technical school program or apprenticeship in vehicle and equipment repair and have four years of experience.
Must be capable of operating company vehicles and equipment on a daily basis. The employee must have the ability to drive and have proper licensing.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Must be reliable and have a strong work ethic
Proven ability to work independently and without direct supervision
Good teamwork skills to work effectively with coworkers
Ability to communicate effectively to converse with employees, read orders and work instructions, and make accurate entries in the daily log

Device installation and maintenance
Manage new device installations
Activate and terminate devices
Set up and maintain user profiles
Troubleshooting
Identify non-communicating devices; build appropriate work orders for correction
Investigate mileage and hours differences between Fleet data and Telematics
Investigate public complains and provide reports
Telematics system administration
Provide various reports including alerts
Reconcile monthly invoicing
Ensure ignition sequences are collected on equipment
Ensure aerial components collect PTO measurements
Develop & deliver employee training on Telematics
Any other activities necessary to assist in maintaining accurate and useful Telematics data

Job Purpose
As a Mechanic C, you are an entry level technician and will assume a role of familiarizing yourself with product knowledge and standards of quality within the branch. What you will do...
Follow a consistent schedule of performing preventative maintenance of all Herc owned fleet at your branch

Perform routine maintenance and repairs on all Herc fleet equipment and trucks under direct supervision

Perform major repairs to maintain fleet equipment using diagnostic tools, hand tools, and measuring instruments under direct supervision
Conduct oil changes, lubrication of equipment, tire replacements, hose repairs, battery replacements and assorted services
Enter work orders and complete part ordering via fleet management system
Assist in reconditioning and replacing assorted parts of the heavy equipment
Learn what is covered and not covered by warranties
Maintain work area in a clean and organized manner
Produce timely and detailed service reports and repair logs
Follow all company's filed procedures and protocols
Perform additional duties as assigned
Requirements
Accredited education in heavy equipment repair or 1 year of experience in lieu of
Ownership of sufficient selection of hand and air/electric tools to complete most repairs and services preferred

Some knowledge in electrical and hydraulic systems and willing to learn how to read schematics

The Role We Want You For
The Mechanical Preconstruction Manager will participate in all aspects of the preconstruction process for mechanical systems to develop accurate, detailed cost estimates, often based on conceptual or schematic designs with a focus on heavy/ advanced manufacturing, industrial and mission critical projects. This role is expected to interact with engineers, architects, consultants, owner's representatives, subcontractors, suppliers, a multi-discipline estimating team, senior management, project supervision, and field personnel.
The Specifics of the Role
Responsible for the collection and distribution of bid documentation relative to RFPs, and solicitation for bid requests using online platform (Autodesk Building Connected).
Assist in gathering information to complete Bid Qualification and Criteria requirements.
Attend pre-bid meetings to become familiar with unique project requirements and analyze existing site conditions to determine required scope that is not already indicated.
Review and interpret project documents to determine job-specific material, equipment, and labor requirements for scope development.
Prepare written scopes of work for subcontracts and suppliers and coordinate mechanical scopes with the work of other trades (e.g., civil, structural, architectural, electrical, etc.).
Participate in pre-proposal design coordination meetings to support the development of pricing documents for conceptual estimates.
Perform constructability analysis of project documents. Communicate design and constructability issues to the project team, while identifying risk elements and appropriate mitigation measures.
Provide viable design alternatives and value engineering propositions with analysis supporting benefits to initial and life cycle cost, schedule, maintenance, etc.
Perform quantity survey of mechanical systems and components using digitized software, and apply industry standard labor rates (e.g., MCAA, PHCC, etc.) to develop accurate cost estimates.
Evaluate vendor and subcontractor for conformance with proposal requirements; level scopes and identify low cost/ best value responses while capturing assumptions, rationale, inclusions, exclusions, etc.
Prepare estimates used for bidding and budgeting purposes (including self-performed work); participate in internal estimate review process and assist with final recap of estimate for presentation to senior management.
Support project management tasks, including budgeting, schedule development, interim design review, change order pricing, procurement, value engineering, and vendor selection based on proposal development.
Coordinate with project teams to evaluate productivity for historical data and schedule/ cost forecasting purposes.
Maintain and improve supplier and subcontractor database utilizing the company's prequalification program.
Supervise junior estimators, estimating assistants and/or Interns, providing training and support in a mentoring capacity and review work products for quality control.
Assist in the organization and maintenance of estimating software material cost databases to ensure accurate costs are consistently utilized on bids; communicate data on construction and material cost trends affecting project costs to project teams.
Identify opportunities for improvement in departmental processes, approach, and execution of estimating and preconstruction functions; assist in creating or adopting new tools to maximize productivity with the lowest attendant value of acceptable risk.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or other Engineering discipline, Construction Management, or related field, or a combination of education (including trade schools) and professional experience.
5-10 years of experience in preconstruction/estimating with a focus on mechanical systems (i.e., Fire Protection, HVAC, Plumbing, Piping).
Exhibits inclusive leadership and teamwork behavior, and values diverse perspectives from team members.
Demonstrated experience in the successful management of bidding process for conceptual estimates with a preferred emphasis on heavy/ advanced manufacturing, industrial and mission critical markets.
Working knowledge of codes and standards applicable to the design and installation of mechanical systems.
Working knowledge of construction contract language and terms in addition to various contractual delivery methods (e.g., negotiated, hard bid, design assist, GMP, etc.)
Possesses strong technical writing, math and computer skills with proficiency using standard office software applications such as Bluebeam, Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint to support estimating efforts.
Proficiency using estimating software with a preference for Trimble products.

Self-driven nonsupervisory position that can work as an individual and with a supportive install team and construction unit. Willing to support other trade teams during Insulation down time.
Ability to measure and make material lists for work areas.
Work safe and efficiently with DynaTen and all project team members.
Participate in training, safety training and mentoring and directing apprentices and other project team members.
Maintain and Support project team with a safe and clean work environment, personal protection equipment (PPE), company tools, rentals, and personal hand tools.
Fulfills responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and processes.
Requirements
4 years of Commercial Mechanical Insulation experience.
Required Hand tools for trade.
OSHA 10 (DynaTen will certify if needed).
Reliable transportation.
Lift up to 60 pounds, handle heavier items with team, lifts, work of ladders and elevated work areas and platforms, and in small areas and heights.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Commitment to integrity and quality.
Ability to navigate documents, drawings, and software using an electronic tablet a plus.
Positive attitude and self-motivated.
Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical and background check.

Working Conditions
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, squat, bend, and lift for extended periods of time; talk or hear; perform fine motor, hand, and finger skills in the use working with tools. Wear protective equipment (PPE) and work clothing and boots. This job will require physical exertion, such as climbing, lifting, and carrying heavy objects, reach with arms and/or hands. This position is performed in a non-climate-controlled temperature environment, working offsite at various construction sites, and building locations. Position expectations to work full 40-hour work weeks and maintain a flexible work schedule to achieve project objectives.
