POSITION PURPOSE
Screed Operator - Looking for specific experience with Asphalt Screed machines operation.
Operators perform a variety of physical tasks to include operating the roller and other heavy equipment and machinery for applying asphalt products as defined by each job/project.
essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Operate the roller and other heavy equipment for paving projects/jobs.
Inspect, clean, and maintain equipment and machinery.
Coordinate and work with contractors, sub-contractors and vendors to complete job.
Serve as front-line Company representative and must provide excellent service to the customer and to the public.
Work on the ground as needed.
Must work quickly, productively and safely to meet production goals as outlined by the Foreman, Superintendent and/or Production Manager.
Follow direction of the Foreman and/or Superintendent with regards to daily production schedule and activities.
Must be an advocate of safety and follow safety policies and procedures.
Actively participate in job-site and safety meetings and all Company related training.
Works in conjunction with Foreman or Crew Leader to ensure the job-site is safe and traffic is controlled prior to commencing work.
Must be a strong communicator and be in constant contact with other equipment operators, truck drivers and general laborers.

May set up and tear down equipment.

Perform all other general laborer work as needed.

About this role:
We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer that will be based out of our Mesa, AZ location and report to the Senior Design Engineering Manager. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will design, develop and analyze new products and components. This role will also maintain and create product documentation thru CAD 3-D modeling and product data management software and evaluate changes and deviations of existing components. Additionally, they will create test protocols and test newly designed components and systems. Lastly, this position will be responsible for creating DFMEA's, engineering documentation, and perform failure analyses using the finite element method. The design responsibilities will also include creating various sink components, sink systems, steel frames, and sheet metal doors and panels for the commercial market.
What you'll do:
Product design of components and complex assemblies using Creo Parametric 3-D modeling software.
Create test protocols, test parts, and create test fixtures.
Perform failure analysis on parts and products utilizing FEA methods within ANSYS.
Create DFMEA's for new products.
Design for manufacturing.
Perform cost analysis and tolerance studies.
Experience with NPDI in a phase gate process.
Source parts, identify appropriate vendors, and communicate with vendors on design optimization.
Develop an in-depth knowledge of the commercial restroom market.
Design and build of electromechanical systems.

What we are looking for:
Bachelor's Degree in in Mechanical Engineering.
5+ years' relevant experience in product design.
Strong analytical skills.
Comfortable working in both small teams and corporate environments.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Excellent knowledge of Solidworks and/or Creo.
Proficient in finite element analysis with an emphasis on structural design.
Self-motivated and ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Strong hands-on experience, knowledge of manufacturing methods and creative aptitude.
Not required, but a plus:
Master's Degree in in Mechanical Engineering.
Certified Creo Parametric user with Creo Simulation experience.
Ability to work closely with architects and sales professionals.
Experience in design of cabinetry, sheet metal design and architecture.

The Grade Checker set grade stakes to guide earth moving equipment operators in sloping highways and fill embankments. Measures horizontally and vertically, in specified ratio, from survey stake to juncture of embankment and initial excavation, using survey rod and eye level.
Sets grade stakes, using hatchet, and chalk-marks excavation reference points on stake.
Repeats measuring and staking at specified intervals to form horizontal stake lines along embankment.
Observes excavating activities to verify conformance to stake references and notifies equipment operators or supervisor of deviations.
Must be a strong communicator and be in constant contact with the earthmovers, paver operators, truck drivers and general laborers.
Must work quickly, productively and safely to meet production goals as outlined by the Foreman, Superintendent and/or Production Manager and concerning daily production schedule.
Must be an advocate of safety and follow safety policies and procedures.

POSITION PURPOSE
The Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic travels to job sites to perform skilled tasks in the repair of all fleet vehicles, machinery, motors, tools and equipment used by the company.

Diagnose hydraulic systems.
Perform preventative maintenance on heavy equipment and trucks to include: pavers, rollers, milling machines, dump trucks, water trucks, boot trucks, front-end loaders, scrapers, skid steers, skip loaders and motor graders. May also maintain other fleet vehicles.
Fabricate, modify and install special equipment or replacement parts using mills, lathes, welders, torch sets, plasma cutters and metal cutting saws.
Perform routine maintenance checks and adjustments on such things as fluid levels, hoses, belts, brakes, tires and clutches. Change filters, and oil and lubricate vehicles and motor driven equipment.
Proficient in troubleshooting machine systems to include: hydraulics, power trains and engines.
Proficient in component replacement with equipment such as, transmissions, engines, differentials, torque convertors and final drives.
Responsible for maintaining work orders and performing work area inspections.
Responsible for prioritizing repairs.
Work closely with all shop employees to maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Prepare work orders and cost material estimates.
May maintain inventory and order fuel, parts, tools, equipment and supplies.

POSITION PURPOSE
The Survey Technician set grade stakes to guide earth moving equipment operators in sloping highways and fill embankments. Grade checkers may also perform a variety of physical tasks to include operating heavy equipment and machinery and using power tools and/or hand tools as defined by each job/project.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Employee shall perform all duties and responsibilities with Sunland's Core Values at the forefront.
Sets grade stakes to guide earth moving equipment operators in sloping highways and fill embankments, using measuring instruments and hand tools: Reads survey stakes along highway right-of-way to determine grade specification for embankment
Measures horizontally and vertically, in specified ratio, from survey stake to juncture of embankment and initial excavation, using survey rod and eye level.
Sets grade stakes, using hatchet, and chalk-marks excavation reference points on stake.
Repeats measuring and staking at specified intervals to form horizontal stake lines along embankment.
Observes excavating activities to verify conformance to stake references and notifies equipment operators or supervisor of deviations.
Must be a strong communicator and be in constant contact with the earthmovers, paver operators, truck drivers and general laborers.
Must work quickly, productively and safely to meet production goals as outlined by the Foreman, Superintendent and/or Production Manager and concerning daily production schedule.
Must be an advocate of safety and follow safety policies and procedures.
Actively participate in job-site and safety meetings and all Company related training.
Inspect, clean and maintain equipment and machinery.
May set up and tear down equipment.
Maintain a clean job site; pick up all tools, equipment, and secure job site each day.
Understand material handling and storage in compliance with SDS sheets.
Coordinate and work with contractors, sub-contractors and vendors to complete job.
Serve as front-line Company representative and must provide excellent service to the customer and to the public.
Use equipment and/or an assortment of hand tools such as rakes, shovels, wheel barrels, etc.
Perform all other general laborer work as needed.

POSITION PURPOSE
The Public Works Estimator is responsible for evaluating bid specifications and drawings to ensure we know everything required to successfully bid and win projects. The Estimator estimates and controls production costs by gathering and reviewing the necessary information for each project and works with Sales and Production Teams to compile competitive cost estimates.

May periodically reassess daily goals to meet forecasted production.
Review and inspect completed job and meet with Superintendent, Production Manager, and/or Project Consultant to rectify any concerns.
May be responsible for maintaining daily logs and inputting job costs, material costs and labor, and maintaining daily logs into Company systems daily.
Serve as key Company representative in the field, communicating with customers, Sub-contractors, vendors and the general public. Help to manage customer and public expectations and provide a high level of customer service.

POSITION PURPOSE
The Saw Cutter - Asphalt and Concrete will be responsible for operating concrete saws and performing precise cutting tasks to support various construction projects. Your keen attention to detail and strong work ethic will be essential for ensuring high-quality work and adherence to safety standards.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Utilize concrete and asphalt saws (including flat saws, wall saws, and hand-held saws) to cut various surfaces such as roads, curbs, slabs, sidewalks, trenches, ADA ramps, driveways, aprons, valley gutters, and other structures.
Assess cutting depth and blade performance, making adjustments as needed to maintain quality.
Adhere to all safety protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and awareness of site hazards (like utilities, traffic, and personnel).
Collaborate with foremen, equipment operators, and laborers to ensure cutting tasks are integrated with site operations.
Assist with site preparation and cleanup tasks, such as removing debris and establishing barriers around cutting locations.
Document time, material usage, and equipment maintenance in daily logs or job tickets, including quantities in linear feet (LF) or square feet (SF).
Possess knowledge of different types of saws, blades, and cutting techniques suitable for various materials and thicknesses.
Have a solid understanding of construction safety measures and hazard awareness.
Ensure compliance with all job site safety regulations while maintaining a zero-incident record.
Demonstrate physical ability to lift up to 75 lbs., stand for extended periods, and work under varying weather conditions.
Exhibit the capability to work both independently and collaboratively in fast-paced environments.
Display basic mechanical skills for troubleshooting and maintaining cutting tools.
Achieve precision in cuts (limiting overcutting, ensuring straight lines, and maintaining appropriate depths).
Maintain equipment uptime and adhere to maintenance log requirements.
Complete assigned cutting tasks promptly.
Communicate effectively and collaborate with site teams.
The ideal candidate will have experience in concrete cutting, familiarity with various types of sawing equipment, and a commitment to safety and quality workmanship. You should be able to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.
Requirements
Previous experience as a Saw Cutter or in a similar role is preferred.
Familiarity with operating concrete and asphalt cutting equipment.
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety practices.
Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Physically fit and able to perform manual labor and lift heavy objects.

Education, Work Experience and Requirements
A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
Six (6) months to one (1) year related experience is preferred.

Proficient at Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook), Good understanding MS Project Scheduling software or equivalent.
Must have strong mathematical skills and be able to perform complex computations for layout design and material requirements.
Broad understanding of project management, budgeting, scheduling, resource allocation and contract administration is required.
OSHA safety training a plus, no certifications needed.
Must be fluent in English, i.e., must be able to speak, read and write English.

Motivate, mentor and develop direct reports.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
This position operates at professional construction sites and in professional office environments, requiring the uses of standard office equipment, the ability to communicate verbally with others on site, in person and over the telephone, ability to read printed materials, signs, computer screens and directions, stamina to maintain attention to details despite interruptions, ability to lift, push, pull, carry, handle or feel objects, supplies, tools, machinery and/or controls weighing up to 50 pounds and reach with hands and arms; climb stairs and/or ladders; balance, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, lift overhead, traverse around or otherwise position one's self around the required work and safety requirements to navigating and perform activities on various construction sites in a safe manner.
Will be required to work on project sites and operate vehicles, trailers, machinery, equipment and other tools within local, state and federal safety guidelines.
Will be required to work outside, frequently for long periods of time in all weather, including extreme hot and cold temperatures.
While working, the employee might be exposed to various chemicals, vapors, pollutants, virus or other air-borne pathogens, gases, uneven surfaces, loud noises, moving vehicles or machines and dust/debris.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full time position. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Travel
Must be willing to travel to any and all jobsites without exception (including staying away from home if necessary.)
The majority of work will be in the field meeting with customers; must be able to travel/ drive to job sites and client meetings daily.
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Work Experience
Bachelor's degree in the field of Construction Management or Civil Engineering and/or 2- 5 years' Civil Concrete or related field experience.
Previous heavy construction or Concrete industry experience is required.
Proficient at Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook), Good understanding MS Project Scheduling software or equivalent.
Must have strong mathematical skills and be able to perform complex computations for layout design and material requirements.
Broad understanding of project management, budgeting, scheduling, resource allocation and contract administration is required.
OSHA safety training a plus, no certifications needed.
Must be fluent in English, i.e., must be able to speak, read and write English.
Certifications, Licenses, and Requirements
Must have a valid driver's license and a clean motor-vehicle record.
Passing a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and background check is required.

POSITION PURPOSE
The Heavy Equipment Shop Mechanic performs skilled tasks in the repair of all fleet vehicles, machinery, motors, tools, and equipment used by the company.
essential Duties and Responsibilities
Employee shall perform all duties and responsibilities with Sunland's Core Values at the forefront.
Must be an advocate of safety and follow safety policies and procedures.
Perform and prioritize repairs and/or maintenance on heavy equipment and trucks such as pavers, rollers, milling machines, dump trucks, water trucks, boot trucks, front-end loaders, scrapers, skid steers, skip loaders and motor graders to include such things as fluid levels, hoses, belts, brakes, tires, and clutches. Change filters, and oil and lubricate vehicles and motor driven equipment. May also maintain other fleet vehicles.
Respond to requests from supervisors to complete any and all repairs and maintenance, prepare and close out work orders, and relay work orders back to fleet admin and/or immediate supervisor.
Diagnose, service and repair trucks/equipment using electronic scan tools.
Conduct Safety Meetings to include daily PTP & weekly Tailgate Topics.
Actively participate in jobsite and safety meetings and all Company related training.
Work closely with all shop employees to maintain a clean and safe work environment and keep tools, equipment and work area secured, organized and in good working condition.
May order fuel, parts, tools, and supplies.

A minimum of two (2) to three (3) years heavy equipment maintenance required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Scan tool experience is a plus.
Must be fluent in English, i.e. must be able to speak, read and write English.
Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations
Must have a valid driver's license and a clean motor-vehicle record.
Passing a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and background check is required.
Must have basic tool set to perform preventative maintenance.
