Overview
As a Certified Electrician 2 at Sunrun you will be working on a variety of projects from training and mentoring other Electricians, installing solar systems, performing work for our existing customers, and learning more about energy storage and other new technology.
Responsibilities
Lead the installation of electrical systems that interconnect our solar array to the grid power of our customer's residential property
Ensure work performed by all electricians is of good workmanship and compliant with current NEC and local codes
Complete solar battery installations as assigned
Troubleshoot system problems and resolve electrical issues
Safely plan and complete Main Panel Upgrades (MPU)
Work with branch team and home owners to fulfill any necessary system upgrades/repairs to support our solar equipment
Mentor others to enhance their overall electrical skills
Train on Sunrun established best practices as well as prepare team members for future positions at Sunrun
Work cross-functionally with license holders, AHJ inspectors, and crew members to serve as a subject matter expert on electrical work
Solve for recurring quality issues and failed inspections to increase the installation pass rate

Qualifications

1 year solar electrical installation and repair experience required
Experience with electrical work involving wiring up to 600 VDC and 480 VAC
Working knowledge and experience replacing residential electrical services and distribution panels required

Must possess a valid Journeyman License/Electrician Certification or equivalent per local and state requirements, e.g. wireman license

Position Overview
:We're seeking a skilled MPU Electrician to join our growing residential solar construction teams. This is a hands-on, high-impact role upgrading residential electrical systems to support solar energy installations - safely, efficiently, and with pay that rewards your skill.

Key Responsibilities:
Perform Main Panel Upgrades (MPUs) or other residential service changes on homes to support solar energy systems
Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems in residential settings
Perform electrical wiring, conduit layout, and grounding systems following building and electrical standards and codes
Read and interpret technical drawings such as blue prints or line diagrams to determine electrical layouts
Troubleshoot electrical issues using appropriate testing devices
Collaborate with construction teams on-site to ensure electrical systems meet project requirements and are completed in a timely manner
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site
Accurately complete project documentation, including photos, labels, and communicate effectively with crew members, the crew lead and field leadership, and the customer
Required Skills/Abilities:
5+ years of residential electrical experience, including service upgrades
Proven knowledge of NEC codes, especially related to solar, battery storage, and service panels
Familiarity with logic controllers and their applications
Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings
Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, and speciality electrical equipment
Valid state electrician license/journeyman preferred, but not required
Residential solar experience strongly preferred with knowledge of PV equipment and safety equipment
Ability to work independently or as part of a team
Ability to follow and adhere to safety requirements
Clean driving record and ability to drive company vehicle
Physical Requirements:
Must be comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces
Ability to work in various weather conditions/extreme environments (hot attics, heat, wind, cold/icy weather, etc)
Prolonged periods of kneeling, bending, crouching, and climbing ladders
Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds regularly

The Solar Electrician I's primary responsibility is to support Operations & Maintenance (O&M) activities by providing quick responses to maintain the performance of the solar systems, delivering excellent customer service to our customers, and ensuring a smooth workflow and optimally performing solar systems. The Electrician uses troubleshooting skills to diagnose and repair solar systems at our customer's residences, which includes rooftop-work on systems.
The Electrician positions fall in a 5 -Tier structure, based on technical experience/competencies, licensure status, equipment training/competencies, certifications, and defined leadership behaviors. Selected candidate(s) will be eligible for a role in the appropriate tier.
Solar Electrician Responsibilities
Utilizes knowledge, skills, and electrical testing equipment to evaluate systems accurately for maintenance, warranty repairs, design, and other purposes; diagnoses and repairs solar and storage systems and electrical components
Completes quality assurance inspections, documenting corrective actions, and ensuring completion of corrective items within defined timelines
Submits service reports immediately following work order completion
Collaborates closely with manufacturers and engineering team to resolve technical issues
Identifies solutions to resolve technical design problems, including electrical systems used during construction
Provides training to service staff on system operation such as how to identify, resolve, and repair issues etc.
Develops and uses knowledge of all roof types and the appropriate flashings and mounts to use on those roofs
Manages vehicle material stock and equipment inventory
Maintains compliance with all Sunnova Safety policies and practices
Customer Service/Dealer Relationships
Provides training to customers about service process, system usage, system operation, performance, and maintenance
