RESIDENT CARE DIRECTOR
RESPONSIBILITIES & QUALIFICATIONS
Provide strategic leadership for resident care in the community by working with each department to coordinate care and services that promote resident's quality of life. Direct management of the nursing team and medication care managers, as applicable by State/Province law, to promote the health and wellness of the resident population.
Provide clinical care through the direct application of the nursing process; perform and document resident assessments, complete Individualized Service Plans, provide or delegate hands-on clinical care as indicated by the plan of care and evaluate resident outcomes.
Provide oversight of the community medication management program to promote resident safety in the medication use process.
Collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, and other clinical providers to coordinate care and services for the residents within the community.
Provide clinical training and education as needed to nurses, medication care managers, care managers and others who provide resident care. Perform skill evaluation to develop and promote clinical capabilities of team members.
Track, trend and report clinical quality data to identify risk. Actively participate as a member of the community Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement committee. Lead clinical quality and process improvement initiatives within the community to mitigate risk and improve resident care outcomes.
Recruit hire and train clinical team members and is responsible for performance management, evaluation and engagement.
Completes direct report team member staffing and scheduling according to operational and budgetary guidelines.
Support regulatory compliance for the community and clinical items under their purview.
Clinical event management and response.
Experience & Qualifications
2+ years of experience as an RN; one year in home health, assisted living, or long-term care preferred.
1+ years of nursing management experience to include hiring, coaching, performance management, scheduling, and daily operations supervision.
Experience in tracking, trending, and analyzing clinical performance data preferred.

The Licensed Nursing Home Administrator is responsible for providing overall leadership and management of the skilled nursing center. **Essential Duties**

**Skilled Nursing Center and Program Oversight**
+ Plan, organize, develop and lead the overall operation of the skilled nursing center in accordance with current federal, state/provincial, and local laws and Sunrise standards, guidelines, and regulations.
+ Ensure policies are communicated and followed by team members, visitors, and guests/residents.
+ Oversee administrative duties including but not limited to completing reports, medical forms, charting, and other skilled nursing administrative operations as necessary.
+ Responsible for the Care Planning meeting to include the development of the agenda and facilitate participation of others as appropriate.
+ Evaluate and implement recommendations from established committees as they may pertain to nursing services.
+ Ensure customer engagement of the skilled nursing center to confirm and assist team members in performing their work assignments in accordance with acceptable Sunrise and nursing standards.
+ Review and act upon any complaint or concern as they arise.
+ Participate in and prepare for surveys and inspections made by authorized personnel and government agencies.
+ Maintain a robust public relations program in support of the skilled nursing center.
+ Manage the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement program through the development of Performance Improvement Plans.
+ Ensure the timely reporting of facility reportable incidents as determined by federal and state/provincial regulations.
**Guest/Resident Relations**
+ Inform Director of Nursing Services of new admissions, expectations for service, room assignment, and any special instructions.
+ Ensure customer engagement practices are performed, greet newly admitted guests/residents, and visit guests/residents at a minimum weekly.
+ Ensure guest/resident requests are met in a timely, professional, and friendly manner.
+ Maintain confidentiality with all guest/resident information.
+ Participate in community wide efforts to ensure proper placement of guests/residents by level of care.
+ Ensure team member documentation of service provided via medical record system and federally mandated MDS system.
+ Provide oversight and guidance to care planning team.
+ Oversee the process and review care plans and assessments as necessary at least quarterly; ensure care plans are individualized.
+ Develop methods for coordination of nursing services with other guest/resident services to ensure the continuity of the total regimen of care.
**Quality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance**
+ Strive for excellent quality care and service delivery as measured in the Quality Services Review (QSR) process.
+ Develop and implement appropriate plans of action to correct identified deficiencies in compliance with Sunrise expectations for QSR and other regulatory compliance.
+ Ensure skilled nursing center team members are properly trained in Sunrise Cares injury and illness prevention, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), emergency preparedness manuals, and Lockout Tagout procedures.
+ Report and investigate allegations of resident abuse.
**Financial Management**
+ Assist in the presentation and value of Sunrise's products and services for our residents, families, team members, and targeted referral sources.
+ Assist the executive director in completing the annual community budget.
+ Understand and manage the department budget to include labor/labour and other expenses and its impact on the community's bottom line.
+ Review monthly financial statements and implements plans of action for deficiencies.
+ Process and submit monthly expenses and budget data timely per Sunrise policies and internal business controls.
+ Coordinate with the community team to achieve maximum staff economies and cross training when applicable.
+ Understand the internal cost associated with all Sunrise resident care programs.
**Training, Leadership and Team Member Development**
+ Manage the department, including but not limited to: recruiting, hiring, training, coaching, and disciplining.
+ Partner in the delivery and participation in Sunrise University Training and self study programs during the required timeframe.
+ Develop a working knowledge of state/provincial regulations and ensure compliance through supervising and coaching team members.
+ Achieve the Team Member Engagement goals and actively lead in the Engagement Improvement Planning sessions.
+ Complete team member staffing and scheduling according to operational and budgetary guidelines.
+ Review of timekeeping practices and payroll reports daily to ensure all hours worked are recorded and appropriately paid.
+ Conduct timely performance appraisals with meaningful conversations.
+ Hold team accountable and correct actions when necessary and document.
+ Attend regular meetings; Stand Up, Cross Over, Department Head Meetings, Town Hall, Quality Improvement, and others as directed by the Executive Director.
+ Keep abreast of professional developments in the field by reading, attending conferences, and training sessions.
+ Maintain compliance in assigned required training and all training required by state/province or other regulating authorities as applicable to this role to ensure that Sunrise standards are always met.

* Maintain compliance with all payroll-related laws, tax regulations, wage & hour laws and company policies, proactively identifying and addressing discrepancies or risks

+ Maintain the correct storage of all cookware, china, glassware, and utensils.
+ Maintain the correct storage of all janitorial and chemical supplies.
+ Assist in the receiving, storage, dating, labeling, and rotation of food and non-food supplies.
+ Comply with national/provincial regulations pertaining to occupational health and safety and Risk Management programs and policies, adhere to safety rules and regulations, and practices safety procedures at all times including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), fire extinguishers, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and Lockout Tagout procedures.
+ Responsible for performing other Dining Services duties when assigned by community leadership in the following areas, but not limited to:
+ Clean and maintain the dining room and bistro to the highest standards per company guidelines.
+ Bus and reset tables per company standards.

Accounts Receivable

* Manage the collection, safeguarding and processing of cash receipts.

* Supervise and ensure the proper approval, coding and processing of invoices.
* Maintain the departmental PRD checkbook each month and ensure expenses incurred but not invoiced or paid within the current accounting period are properly accrued.
* Process fixed asset purchases for approved projects/purchases.
Controls Environment
* Monitor all community key business controls each month and ensure they are executed in accordance with Sunrise policy.
* Reconcile and control cash accounts for resident deposits and petty cash, if applicable; responsible for timely bank deposits.
* Maintain daily manual census and reconcile month-end census to the Answers on Demand (AOD)/Basis billing system.
* Assemble the Monthly Key Controls Checklist and review for completeness and accuracy. Follows up with community team leaders on noted exceptions to Sunrise policy.
* Prepare the balance sheet reconciliations as applicable each month in accordance with department policy.
Financial Management
* Assist in the presentation and value of Sunrise's products and services for our residents, families and team members and targeted referral sources.
* Meet all financial close deadlines; pull and analyze pre-close reports each day to validate results.
* Provide necessary schedules, reports, and reconciliations to support the owner and financial audits.
Training, Leadership and Team Member Development

* Prepare investment decks and present recommendations to leadership.

Conduct and/or assist with planned resident activities, programs, and services throughout the community.
Assist, invite, and encourage residents to participate in activities.
Assist residents to and from the activity areas when necessary.
Record and document resident participation if required by federal, state/provincial, and local laws and regulations.
Maintain activity areas in an orderly manner.
Assist in maintaining an inventory of activity and programming supplies, games, programs, and craft services.
