Sunstar Paramedics company history timeline
In 1980, the Pinellas County EMS Authority was set up through a Special Act of the Florida Legislature.
In 1988, the Sunstar logo was placed on 51 identical ALS ambulances.
Sunstar has been proudly serving the Pinellas County community since 1998 and has been recognized both locally and nationally dozens of times for the outstanding level of care our highly skilled team of emergency medical technicians (EMTs) and Paramedics provide.
Paramedics Plus has been the sole provider for ambulance services in Pinellas County since 2004 (14 years to date), providing BLS, ALS, and Critical Care Transport levels of service as well as Mental Health Client transportation.
Sunstar Paramedics is a nationally recognized EMS system who was awarded the Florida Governor Sterling Award for performance excellence, the highest quality award in Florida, in 2009.
Through the years of increasing population and demand for EMS, the fleet of ambulances has grown to 74 ALS ambulances and 20 BLS ambulances as of 2017.
In 2018, Paramedics Plus was acquired by A&M Capital Partners, LP, a middle-market private equity fund that is part of the A&M Capital Platform.
