ABOUT INTERNSHIPS * This is an in-person internship that is 40 hours per week between Monday and Friday. The first week of intern training bootcamp will take place at Drexel Building Supply in Campbellsport (110 E Main St., Campbellsport, WI). Transportation will not be provided. This must be arranged by the intern. * At the conclusion of training bootcamp, interns will report to their summer-long locations, based on placement by the Drexel People and Talent Team and the intern (placements to be determined by January 1, 2026). * Internships begin in May 2026 and will conclude in the middle of August 2026. AVAILABLE INTERNSHIPS: Residential Design * Reading Blueprints and Scopes of Work. * Comfortable with using computers and a math wizard. * Revit software experience is highly encouraged. * Develop concept floor plan layouts and exterior elevations. * Take concept floor plans/elevations and transform them into construction documents. * Use website plans and establish furniture layouts. * Understand roof, truss & floor loads. * Must be detail-oriented, organized, have a creative mind, and have high communication skills! Takeoff Specialist * Immersed in learning and understanding how to read plan designs and estimating fundamentals. * Material list assistance, including but not limited to: putting together and finalizing small and large material lists. * Understanding floor plans and products. * Interpret project plans to accurately and efficiently assemble material lists for projects. * Use project plans and scope of work to accurately estimate material quantities and/or material lists for project bids and/or sold projects. * Prepare material list for quotes; route to category specialists and sales team for pricing and presentation to customer. * Troubleshoot various structural-related issues and develop solutions. * Gain a knowledge base of three different takeoff teams: Lumber & Structural, Exteriors, and Millwork. Truss Design - Wrightstown Truss * Reading Blueprints and Scopes of Work. * Comfortable with using computers and a math wizard. * Learn how to use MiTek software. * Produce individual truss designs and layouts for the roof or floor system * Work in partner with sales personnel to ensure individual customer needs and expectations are being met * Prepare quotes. * Job site visits with stick built jobs and off-site construction. * Understand how the different design departments coincide with each other. Panel Design - Amherst * Reading Blueprints and Scopes of Work. * Comfortable with using computers and a math wizard. * Learn how to use MiTek and iStruct software. * Design structural components. * Produce individual designs and final layouts for wall and floor systems. * Provide engineering support to customers when needed. * Make jobsite visits to Off-Site construction sites. * Understand how the different design departments coincide with each other. Tailgate Tour/Marketing * You set the tone for each event and get the party started! * You can't be afraid to get dirty. Literally. The food truck will be your home for the summer. Cooking, serving, and having fun with our customers is what it's all about… You'll be grilling brats with the fancy grill that rolls right out of the truck. * Organize and prepare for Tours, including making sure all supplies are loaded, enough time is allowed for travel, team members attending know the details, and operating Google Calendar like a champ! * Manage social media accounts to show how you are supplying happiness throughout the summer. * Put on the miles with the food truck! Nearly every day, you will be going to a job site to cook lunch for the builder/ client. * Get creative. New ideas and innovation are a must. How can we make the Tailgate Tour experience better? That's up to you! * Manage and build relationships with clients and the Sales Team. * Distribute Drexel swag (t-shirts, hats, etc) as seen fit. * Assists with other marketing projects as needed. * Candidates must be 18 years old and have a clean driving record to insure. Inventory * Must love data entry and geeking out on the details! * Excellent computer, administrative, and mathematical skills. Responsibilities Responsibilities for the Safety Intern will include: Work on agreed upon projects throughout the intern process (i.e. jobsite safety audit walks, updating forms, formal program creation, training programs, etc.) Submit projects in binder form (or electronic) for review and critique. Complete job site safety audits to recognize and correct unsafe conditions and behaviors. Offer corrective actions and preventive measures as they are needed, presented in formal manner for documentation and reference. Give presentations throughout the internship (i.e. leading some sort of topic at a meeting, an orientation or other corporate gathering. Prepare and Present an agreed upon number of presentations throughout the internship to develop or improve group speaking about topics, recommended 1 per month.) Travel to jobsites for operations meetings, job/task safety training, audit purposes, or safety project planning. Take notes of observance and important aspects of the experience and the outcome of the meeting/ safety trainings, complete a one page write up for inclusion into the daily log. Complete/assist with any accident/ incident investigation. Write a report of your experience, including pictures and drawings as needed for inclusion into formal internship project reference. Keep up to date calendar. Complete a daily log of activities, focusing on something that you learned each day. Format daily log with name, date, and detailed description of the duties/accomplishments for the day. Complete safety audit reports and send to Superintendents for job sites visited. Complete 1 Toolbox Talk a week and turn in to supervisor Review JP Cullen safety manual and understand best practices. Attend Monday morning safety meetings, Ops plans, plan presentations, etc. Qualifications Currently pursuing a degree in Occupational Health and Safety or Construction Management Basic understanding of OSHA regulations and construction site safety practices Ability to assist with safety audits, inspections, and incident reporting Proficiency in Microsoft Suite Strong verbal and written communication Detail-oriented and organized Willingness to learn and take initiative Comfortable working in both office and field environments Compensation & Benefits This is a paid internship.
