About the Role:
The Field Mechanic with MYR Group you'll travel to project sites across the designated service area, supporting our field teams. You'll use your skills to perform maintenance, preventive maintenance, and minor equipment repairs safely and professionally. This position requires significant travel in the state of Texas, (including overnight) to project locations, supporting teams to ensure successful operation of the equipment. At times, the Mechanic will be required to respond to emergencies outside regular work hours and work overtime including weekends and holidays. To support these travel requirements, a company vehicle, fuel card, and lodging will be provided.

Essential Functions
This is considered an advance-level skilled or career level position
Perform mechanic assignments using independent judgment to make decisions requiring the application of procedures and practices to specific work situations
Perform a full range of servicing and repairs on various types of fleet equipment, including malfunctioning parts and systems. Ensure compliance with manufacturer guidelines and company schedules
Frequently travel to customer job sites for repair/maintenance of equipment. Must maintain service vehicle in a clean and professional manner
May provide oversight for less experienced mechanics
Perform routine and preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs
Identify mechanical problems either visually or with computer diagnostic equipment
Maintain records of time and materials used on each job, the condition of the equipment, and the repairs performed
Track information in computer software; ensure repair orders and weekly timesheets are complete and accurate
Conduct safety inspections of equipment and prepare safety documentation
Work in accordance with DOT, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Interstate Authority, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and other rules and regulations as required
Participate in training programs; maintain and update safety skills and knowledge; keep current with hazardous material training requirements
Other duties as assigned

About You:
Qualifications
Must have three to five years of experience in general mobile heavy truck repair, automotive repair, or equipment repair; equivalent trade school/technical school time may be applied toward this requirement OR have completed a vocational/technical school program or apprenticeship in vehicle and equipment repair and have four years of experience.
Must be capable of operating company vehicles and equipment on a daily basis. The employee must have the ability to drive and have proper licensing.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Must be reliable and have a strong work ethic
Proven ability to work independently and without direct supervision
Good teamwork skills to work effectively with coworkers

About this Role
Mechanic at Southern Electric Corporation shall possess the ability to operate/drive any truck, including tractor trailers in order to support all assigned work activity. Employee must have three (3) years' experience and possess a valid commercial driver's license.
What You'll Do
* Analyzes malfunctions and repairs, rebuilds and maintains motor vehicles and construction equipment, such as pickup trucks and heavier trucks ranging from ½ ton to 10 ton GVWR, company automobiles, cranes, power shovels, digger derricks, aerial lift equipment, motor graders, trench-digging machines, conveyors, bulldozers, pumps, compressors, portable generators, portable power supplies, hydraulic press heads and motors and pneumatic tools.
* Operates and inspects machines or equipment to diagnose defects.
* Dismantles and reassembles equipment, using hoist and hand tools.
* Examines parts for damage or excessive wear, using test equipment and gauges.
* Tests overhauled equipment to ensure operating efficiency.
* May weld or have welded broken parts and structural members.
* May fabricate or have fabricated, parts or devices used in the construction and/or maintenance of power and telecommunication systems.
* May direct workers engaged in cleaning parts and assist with assembly and disassembly of equipment.
* May repair, adjust and maintain specialized machinery, such as conductor pullers, tensioners, spacer buggies, drilling and cutting equipment.
* Plans work procedure, using charts, technical manuals, and experience.
* Raises equipment using hydraulic jack or hoist, to gain access to mechanical units bolted to underside of equipment.
* Remove as needed, engine, transmission, or differential, using wrenches and hoist.
* Disassembles unit and inspects parts for wear, using test equipment, calipers, and thickness gauges.
* May repair, replace parts or send equipment off to have parts, such as pistons, rods, gears, valves and bearing replaced.
* Overhauls or replaces carburetors, fuel injection systems, blowers, generators, distributors, starters, and pumps.
* May rebuild or send off to be rebuilt crankshafts and cylinder blocks, valve heads, etc.
* Rewires ignition system, lights, and instrument panel.
* Relines and adjusts brakes, aligns front end, repairs, or replaces shock absorbers and solders leak in radiator.
* Mend damaged body and fenders by hammering out or filling in dents and welded broken parts.
* Replaces and adjusts headlights, and installs and repairs accessories, such as radios, heaters, mirrors, and windshield wipers.
* Identify safety equipment on a specific piece of equipment.
* Read and use the operations manual of a specific piece of equipment.
* Perform general cleanup of equipment.
* Identify components and controls of machine.
* Able to perform daily walk arounds, routine and periodic checks, inspections, and the maintenance of equipment.
* Learn and interpret proper hand signals.
* Perform basic operation of equipment.
* Assist with the adjustment of brakes and clutches.
* Assist with the service and maintenance schedule of the equipment.
* Read and use all capacity charts for the equipment.
* Perform the setup of the equipment, connect, and disconnect trailers.
* Capable of loading and unloading equipment and materials.
* Capable of securing loads on trailers.
* Adheres to all Company and Safety Policies while conducting Company business.
* Shall attend training classes as prescribed by the Training Department.
* Capable of operating most construction equipment, booms, etc. if needed.

Branch is searching for an experienced and safety-oriented Mechanic to join our well-established, growing company. The Heavy Equipment Mechanic II is a skilled journey-level position responsible for performing preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a variety of heavy construction equipment. This role requires troubleshooting skills, the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and the capability to train and mentor entry-level mechanics.
Duties/Responsibilities
* Perform scheduled preventive maintenance services, adjustments, and equipment overhauls.
* Utilize diagnostic tools, service manuals, and electronic equipment to identify and resolve mechanical issues.
* Inspect, diagnose, and repair diesel and gasoline engines, hydraulic systems, transmissions, electrical systems, and undercarriages on heavy construction equipment.
* Repair and service equipment such as bulldozers, excavators, graders, loaders, backhoes, cranes, and other specialized machinery.
* Weld, fabricate, and modify equipment parts as needed to maintain operational standards.
* Maintain accurate service records, work orders, and parts usage in compliance with company procedures.
* Adhere to safety protocols, PPE standards, and environmental regulations while performing work.
* Provide guidance and mentorship to Heavy Equipment Mechanic I positions and apprentices.
* Assist in road calls and field repairs to minimize equipment downtime.
* May perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
* High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a vocational or technical program in heavy equipment repair preferred.
* Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a heavy equipment mechanic, including at least 2 years in construction equipment repair.
* Valid driver's license (CDL preferred or ability to obtain).
* Manufacturer or industry certifications (e.g., Caterpillar, John Deere, ASE Medium/Heavy Truck) highly desirable.
* Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. and work in outdoor environments under varying weather conditions.
