A respected general contractor in the Sacramento region is seeking an experienced DSA Superintendent to lead Division of the State Architect (DSA) public works projects. This role is responsible for overseeing day-to-day field operations while ensuring strict compliance with DSA requirements, safety standards, and project schedules.
Key Responsibilities
Field Leadership & Operations
Manage all onsite construction activities for DSA-regulated projects from start to finish.
Supervise subcontractors, coordinate trade sequencing, and enforce project schedules.
Lead daily tailgate meetings and ensure compliance with site safety requirements.
DSA & Public Works Compliance
Ensure full compliance with DSA inspection requirements, testing, and documentation.
Coordinate with DSA inspectors, IORs, testing agencies, and special inspectors.
Maintain accurate records including verified reports, inspection logs, and corrective actions.
Ensure adherence to prevailing wage and public works requirements.
Schedule, Quality & Reporting
Track schedule progress and proactively identify potential delays or conflicts.
Ensure work is installed per approved plans, specifications, and DSA-approved changes.
Participate in weekly project meetings and provide field updates to project management.
Coordination & Closeout
Coordinate inspections, punch lists, and final acceptance with DSA and local authorities.
Support closeout documentation including as-builts, O&M manuals, and final verified reports.
Assist with project turnover and occupancy approvals.
Qualifications
5+ years of experience as a Superintendent on DSA projects (K-12, higher education, public facilities).
Strong understanding of DSA processes, inspections, and documentation requirements.
Experience working with public owners, inspectors, and union trades.
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience & Skills
At least 5+ years of experience as a Superintendent in commercial construction (10 years preferred)
Proven track record managing projects across various commercial markets
Strong understanding of commercial construction sequencing, drawings, and specifications
Knowledge of foundations, structural framing, MEP systems, and how systems interact
Familiarity with fire, sprinkler, alarm, and safety systems
Experience working in occupied Class A buildings
Ability to manage multiple smaller projects simultaneously
Strong safety record and experience overseeing self-performed work
Ability to work with urgency while maintaining high quality standards
Excellent communication (verbal and written) and leadership skills
Proficiency in MS Office; Microsoft Project experience preferred
Experience with field-based project management software, particularly Autodesk or Procore, is highly desirable
Education & Certifications
OSHA 30 preferred (or willing to obtain during training)
LEED Green Associate accreditation or higher is a plus

FiberTel is hiring a Telecom/Underground Superintendent for our Sacramento, Vallejo, and Santa Rosa locations.
The Telecom/Underground Superintendent will be responsible for providing highly skilled support to fiber/telecom projects, performing various duties related to building, trenching, drilling/boring, and operating in the OSP/telecom industry. Suulutaaq is hiring an experienced Heavy Civil Construction Superintendent to join our construction operations to provide project control services for heavy civil projects in the Northern California area. We are seeking a full-time Superintendent with experience in demolition, grading, paving, underground utilities, flood control, levee repair, and river or wetlands restoration. The home office is in Suisun City, CA.
Superintendents with vertical and commercial building experience only, need not apply.
Essential Job Functions:
Advanced knowledge of all trade disciplines, building techniques, project safety requirements, ability to interpret plans and specifications, CPM scheduling techniques, and reporting systems.
Knowledge of government building contracts for State, Municipal, and Federal governments
Manage the day-to-day field activities to ensure that the project milestone dates and overall schedule completion date is met
Create short-interval look-ahead project schedules that make sure that upcoming events are communicated, tracked and are being proactively attended to
Create and maintain a culture that values safety, health and cleanliness
Manage and coordinate the work to ensure that it is constructed in an orderly and deliberate manner that is consistent with the standard of care set forth in the contract documents that are viewed by industry as an effort that is consistent with best-practices standards
Establish and maintain all dimensional controls for the project to include the use of third-party survey and layout personnel when appropriate
Verify that all work is installed in a workmanlike manner
Manage and look ahead no less than three weeks to proactively identifying issues that could lead to problems and facilitate solutions
Obtain all inspections and ensure the quality aspects of the physical work are fully documented
Work with the compliance department to ensure all aspects of the project are compliant with all contract terms and legal requirements that govern the project and the community in which the project(s) takes place
Administer client and corporate specific programs, such as CQC, Safety, Environmental Stewardship, etc.
Conduct and/or attend pre-construction, progress and other project and staff meetings
Manage the punch list and project closeout process to assure timely completion
Maintain daily paperwork such as timecards, field reports, schedule updates and E-mail correspondence
Providing timely and cordial interaction with supporting work groups, such as contracts, accounting, HR, etc.
Direct and manage the workload of supporting staff to include training, mentoring and follow up; and
Required Experience:
Construction Management Degree, Civil Engineering Degree or Minimum of 10 years in Heavy Civil Construction as field superintendent
Proven track record of success on projects
Experience with GPS machine control and rover
PC literate in Microsoft Office applications with proficiency in Excel and Word
Scheduling software experience
Must have a clean driving record for the past 3 years
Must be able to walk through rough construction sites and lift 70 pounds from the ground
Candidate must be willing to take a drug test as part of the selection process.
Candidate must consent to a background check.
Candidate must have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.
