Responsibilities
Manage day-to-day operations on construction sites; oversee subcontractors, trades, and laborers
Develop and maintain project timelines; coordinate deliveries, work phases, and inspections to avoid delays
Ensure work is performed according to project specifications, drawings, and building codes
Serve as the primary point of contact between project managers, subcontractors, inspectors, and clients
Maintain daily logs, track progress, report delays or issues to project managers, and assist with cost control
Identify and address issues that could impact the project's timeline, quality, or budget
Enforce company and OSHA safety protocols; conduct regular safety meetings and site inspections
Qualifications

The Senior MEP Superintendent is responsible for overseeing and managing all day-to-day MEP job site activities, including project team performance, site conditions, safety and quality standards, compliance with scope, and effective management of trade partners.
Responsibilities
Oversee, manage, and document all day-to-day MEP job site activities including OSHA safety compliance
Direct field personnel according to the project plan and Suffolk supervisory principles
Communicate issues, events, performance, and progress daily to the Project Manager
Report any problems promptly to the Project Manager to facilitate the most cost-effective solutions
Establish effective working relationships with clients and Suffolk team members
Request advice and assistance from the General Superintendent on matters pertaining to materials, sequencing, scheduling and personnel
Project Start-Up/Turnover Meeting:
Identify pre-mobilization activities in conjunction with the Project Executive, General Superintendent, and the Project Manager
Develop start-up schedule with Project Manager and send it to the Project Executive and General Superintendent for review
Scheduling:
Assist in formulating and implementing construction schedules in the field
Establish and implement the Project Baseline Schedule based on the project contracts and subcontractor input, taking into account any elements that might impact the schedule
Maintain the schedule and ensure that work performed is consistent with the contract and will meet or exceed client expectations
Update Project Schedule monthly
Provide progress report with the two-week look ahead of schedule to the Project Manager and the field staff
Safety:
Ensure that all subcontractors participate in a safety pre-construction meeting prior to starting work on the project
Ensure that all subcontractors have a full set of MSD sheets on the project, as well as their site specific safety plan and current insurance certificate or OCIP/CCIP enrollment ID
Review the project daily to ensure that all activities are being performed in accordance with all OSHA and governing requirements and the project site specific safety plan
Review safety reports and injury data to assess safety performance on assigned projects
Ensure project(s) are budgeted & staffed appropriately to support safety programs
Communicate clear expectations for safety to project teams
Perform safety inspections using predictive solutions software IAW SCCI safety program
Adhere to all Suffolk Safety program requirements
Quality Management:
Ensure that all pertinent benchmarks for the project are established and inserted into the baseline schedule
Ensure that all appropriate individuals become members of the Q-Team
Ensure that all 1st delivery inspections and Benchmark inspections occur per the baseline schedule so as not to impact the progression of the subsequent work
Ensure that the inspections are approved, documented, and communicated to the project team
Subcontractor and Site Management throughout the Project:
Manage site pre-construction including pre-construction survey, job site utilization and staging plans
Mobilize the field office and maintains the job site to Suffolk standards
Organize documentation of the job site for easy access and review
Manage subcontractor performance to quality and ethical standards
Work with PM to identify and resolve personnel issues and construction process revisions
Manage all phases of the construction process including documenting and reporting site activities and progress, manage excavations and assist with Job Site Utilization Plan
Meeting Management:
Attend project turnover, mobilization, and project coordination meetings
Attend/chair safety pre-construction meetings
Attend/chair weekly foreman and safety meetings
Attend/chair monthly schedule review meetings
Attend closeout meetings
Attend owner meetings
Attend/chair subcontractor meetings and any others necessary to monitor and manage the project
Administrative Management:
Complete and implement construction office checklists including emergency phone lists
Complete daily reports and maintains logs of key activities, files, and shop drawings
Manage the quality and condition of all material deliveries
Maintain required safety reporting and all other required files to Suffolk standards
Insure that as-built working drawings are maintained as well as the current drawing log and revision log, communicating this to the subcontractors
Project Closeout:
Manage subcontractor closeout, transfer of utilities, owner training, work list and punch list
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in applicable discipline and/or related work experience relative to project size/scope
8+ years of experience in related construction fields

RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Superintendent, you will:
Plan and supervise craft activities - includes determining method of construction, manpower levels, material, tools & equipment, temporary power sources, work schedule and documenting actual hours worked

Monitor and ensure compliance with all safety, quality, and administrative policies and procedures within BMWC's policies

Ensure work complies with drawings, specifications, and schedule
Assist in resolving construction problems (lack of productivity, work interfaces, etc.)
Monitor craft compliance with project safety program requirements; document and ensure corrective measures are implemented
Maintain relationships and align project needs with other support departments (i.e., purchasing, safety, virtual design, quality control)
Delegate responsibility and assure its proper completing of assigned tasks
Lead daily and weekly pre-planning efforts including IWPs, daily huddles, constraint checks, and safety planning
Collaborate with project controls to ensure work packages, spool releases, and filed installation plans align with schedule
Coordinate with BMWC fabrication facilities to ensure spool deliveries, fit-up sequences, weld mapping, and material traceability to meet project requirements
Validate spool priority lists, shop schedules, and ensure field conditions match fabrication drawings
Track labor productivity daily using BMWC's earned value methods
Provide accurate percent complete, quantity tracking, and look-ahead updates to the project team
Participate in weekly production reviews and forecasting discussions
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or GED required
Experience leading large capital projects, $10 million + required
Prior experience in a Union environment preferred
Experience with high purity piping preferred
Experience in the pharmaceutical industry a plus
Minimum 8 years supervisory experience along with demonstrated ability to supervise 50 or more craft employees
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
Advanced understanding of construction scheduling and cost control
Construction means and methods for assigned scopes of work
Demonstrated knowledge and experience reading & interpreting construction documents and specifications

Field Staff Assignments and performance evaluations
Weekly site visits to evaluate conditions including safety and general presentation
Ensure that field personnel are performing to established standards
Oversee the development of the baseline schedule and monitor all project schedules for compliance
Provide leadership in the monthly update and narrative process
Confirm that workmanship and materials conform to plans and specifications
Review project schedules during weekly visit, highlighting potential challenges
Provide leadership in responding creatively to challenges to bring projects in on schedule and under budget where feasible
Ensure timely completion of punch lists
Participate in the one-year warranty walkthrough, ensures timely completion of all issues and that appropriate records are kept
Client Relationships and Meeting Management:
Attend all scheduled meetings necessary to monitor and manage projects
Attend owner meetings as necessary and Project Team (PM/PE) meetings at least twice monthly
Maintain continuous client contact to gauge performance perceptions
Communicate relevant information to project teams
Foster and maintain effective working relationships with team members
Training:
Coordinate field training in job specific and safety training
Ensure that field staff are trained according to Suffolk guidelines
Participate in design and delivery of Suffolk-specific training
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management and experience relative to size/scope of projects
Minimum of 15 years of general contracting with a focus on mission critical/data center experience
Each project has specific characteristics regarding size, complexity, sector etc, which dictate the precise years of experience and industry knowledge necessary for success, above and beyond generic construction knowledge and experience
Applicable area licenses
The ability to constantly multi-task and handle competing priorities between Suffolk business needs, organizational issues, and sound customer relations
Business judgment to negotiate the critical balance between budget and construction processes
Excellent organizational skills to manage the many details necessary for successful construction
Judgment to know when to appropriately escalate issues up the chain of command
A strong sense of urgency and initiative, and the ability to quickly study complex issues
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to confidently and decisively take action
Excellent diplomatic and communication skills, able to interact effectively with senior management, and the ability to handle and resolve conflict effectively in a firm but fair manner

The Role We Want You For
Clayco is seeking our next great Superintendent for our national Mission Critical Business Unit. In this role you will provide on-site supervision and quality control for field operations and onsite management of design/build construction projects. The person in this role also reviews documents, responds to scope modification evaluations during construction, and works to complete Clayco projects with respect to Safety, Quality, Schedule and Cost objectives. The Superintendent will observe work in the field and compares to drawings to ensure installations are in accordance with drawings and specifications. You will work closely with clients and as part of a team to provide the best solutions on design-build projects valued anywhere from a $20 million to over $200 million.
The Specifics of the Role
Coordinate with preconstruction, design, engineering, procurement, operations, safety, quality, and all other project site management team members to assure that the there is always adequate project resources.
Ability to supervise construction employees and subcontractors to accomplish work within budget and schedule constraints.

Requirements
B.S. in Construction Management or Engineering or equivalent trade experience with progression to management levels.
5-10 years of experience in highly technical commercial/industrial construction management, on projects of 50+ million, ideally with design-build experience.
Ability to supervise construction employees and subcontractors to accomplish work within budget and schedule constraints.
Strong project safety record and commitment to safety and quality.
Strong work ethic and willingness to travel or relocate to jobsite.
Creative and results-oriented with a sense of urgency.
Ability to walk the job site, climb ladders, and multi floor scaffolding.
Ability to lift objects at least 50lbs.
