Reports to: General Manager or VP of Construction Materials
The Asphalt Superintendent is responsible for leading paving operations, managing crews, equipment, and materials to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and to the quality specifications. This position will act as the link between the foreman, project managers, and subcontractors for scheduling, problem-solving, and quality control.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Follows all company safety and environmental policies and all federal regulations (OSHA, MSHA, FRA, EPA, DOT, and SDDANR, IADENR).
· Coordinates, plans, and supervises paving crews, subcontractors, and any other activities for the assigned projects.
· Manages and coordinates trucking needs for all projects.
· Track time, materials, and costs, preparing accurate reports and adjusting schedules as needed.
· Visit job sites to monitor progress, optimize resources, and ensure compliance with contracts.
· Communicates with the production facilities and coordinates daily material needs.
· Must be able to read and understand contract plans and specifications.
· Direct testing at the job site for all construction-related tests
· Maintain accurate records of quality control activities, including test results, inspections, and corrective actions.

Position Summary
Oversee the scheduling, coordination, and supervision of crew activities. Supervise and coordinate onsite field operations of RK Industries, LLC. and associated sub-contractors and vendors. Provide pertinent information and trade specific information to the GC in the development of the project schedule. Adhere to project schedule and orchestrate timely project completion within budget. Reviews, analyzes, and updates Labor Hours/Job Costs Report information with project management on weekly basis.
Optimize project opportunity by field/pre-fabrication planning, CADD, organizing and scheduling, without compromising the quality, safety or completion date of the project.
Assist project management with schedule preparation and SIP, including logic and resource/budget allocation, Labor Resource Charts and provide updates as required.
Keep proper and complete documentation of project, in accordance with RK Mechanical, Inc.'s standard systems and available for inspection at all times.
Provide required training, mentoring, coaching and leadership for field personnel. Participation in company provided training.
Ensure accurate and complete cost coding of all time cards on a daily basis. Review, sign-off and forward time cards to corporate office as required.
Ensure efficient project closeout, including completion of all punch list work, owner training and instruction, transfer of spare parts, final cleanup, demobilization and project records archiving.

Job Summary:

JOB SUMMARY & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Project Superintendent shall execute onsite management of capital construction and engineering projects under the direction of a Project Manager or Director of Project Management. The Project Superintendent will assist in the execution of the scope of work and schedule of the assigned projects.
Responsibilities include:
Maintain a safe work record within the group and on project sites. Promote Safety Management culture on all project sites.
Oversee capital project construction on site to ensure proper construction practices and a safe work environment. Duties include, but are not limited to:
Monitoring contractor's work to ensure work is being performed according to plans and specifications.
Patrolling the site to look for and eliminate any conditions which could result in an unsafe work environment.
Implementing and enforcing all required safety rules and regulations to prevent injury and/or death and protect POET Design and Construction from liability claims.
Ensure all site contractors are performing within their designated safety guidelines and establishing and providing a secure jobsite.
Collect and file contractor safety documentation as outlined in Site Construction Handbook.
Coordinate construction activities between site contractors and office personnel. Duties include but are not limited to:
Keep project drawings updated and make sure contractors are aware of any and all changes made to the design of the project.
Hold weekly site progress meetings to discuss safety, open issues, and plan for upcoming work.
Keep office personnel updated on the status of the jobsite through distribution of meeting minutes.
Keep updated records of open issues and changes encountered in the field so that they can be forwarded to the office and documented on the as-built drawings.
Keep daily construction logs and permit compliance logs up to day.
Responsible for receiving and organizing all materials and equipment delivered to the site for the purpose of constructing the project. Duties include but are not limited to:
Establish and organize adequate lay-down areas for materials and equipment.
Document receipt of all materials on site and its distribution to the proper contractor.
Maintain a warehouse for storing and tracking parts and fittings.
Change Order authorization and verification.
Drawing clarifications and corrections.
Coordinating site laydown and work configuration for trades.
Supervise onsite construction personnel including, but not limited to Warehouse Manager, Site Administrative Assistant and Site Laborers. Duties include but are not limited to:
Interviewing and hiring site personnel as required.
Directing site employees in their day-to-day activities.
Training and mentoring team members with little to no construction experience.
Effectively manages team by recruiting, selecting, orienting and training team members. Leadership responsibilities also include delegation, coaching and performance management and career development to effectively execute departmental strategies and support company objectives.
Attend pre-bid and pre-construction meetings for contracts issued for each project.
Assist in coordinating the project commissioning, including the internal start-up team, sub-contractors, and vendors.
Create and manage project punchlists and work with the Project Manager and others to complete these tasks.
Foster a culture of safe behavior and environmental compliance at all times.
Maintain a team environment at all times and champion POET in the community.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
4-year degree in Engineering, Construction Management or Business preferred but not required.
Experience Requirements:

Senior Project Superintendent: 20 to 25 years of industrial construction management is required. 10 or more years of supervisory experience strongly preferred.
Must possess excellent scheduling and budget management skills.
Strong sense of teamwork and ownership is essential.

Strong knowledge of MS Project preferred. You know the basics of Microsoft Office Suite. You're capable of learning new programs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Up to 100% travel will be part of the norm for this position to oversee the projects at any one of our 35 bioprocessing facilities.
