Superior Ambulance is the Midwest leader in EMS. Our company was founded by David and Blanche Hill in 1959.
1968 – Superior Air-Ground Ambulance Service Inc. established, providing air transportation to any place in the world.
1973 – Illinois Medi-Car, Inc., established as Illinois’s first wheelchair transport company for wheelchair-bound and disabled patients.
1974 – Superior Ambulance is the first EMS service to employ female paramedics to staff the ambulance, providing care to the sick and injured.
1984 – Metro Paramedic Services, Inc., established providing paramedics, paramedic firefighters, rescue diver paramedics, ambulances, and emergency medical equipment to rural, urban, and suburban municipalities and fire protection districts.
1990 – Paramedic Billing Services, Inc., established providing EMS billing services for municipalities.
1991 – Superior established its first community-based station in Evanston, Illinois, beginning the rapid expansion of Superior that continues to date.
1994 – NORCOMM Public Safety Communications, Inc., established Illinois’ first private 9-1-1 call center providing police, fire, and emergency medical dispatch for villages, cities, and fire districts.
1995 – Superior Ambulance Service established Superior Special Events Team providing EMS support for community and professional events.
1997 – Superior Ambulance Service established Courtesy Van Services.
2000 – Superior Air-Ground Ambulance Service of Indiana, Inc. established operations.
2003 – Superior Ambulance established operations in Rockford, IL, providing inter-facility transport, dedicated hospital standby ambulances, and supporting the Rockford Fire Department with 9-1-1 mutual aid.
2005 – Superior Air-Ground Ambulance Service of Michigan, Inc. established operations.
2007 – Superior established Air Ambulance transport division, providing aeromedical services based at DuPage County Airport.
2009 – Superior Air-Ground Ambulance celebrates 50 years in providing emergency and non-emergency transportation!
2010 – Superior Ambulance purchases second Airbus EC135 P2+.
Founded in 2012, Municipal Management Services (MMS) specializes in provide top quality and professional administrative, clerical, secretarial, general labor and custodial personnel for municipalities of all sizes.
2014 – Superior establishes Community Paramedicine Program.
2017 – Superior Air-Ground Ambulance Service of Michigan, Inc. achieved accreditation through the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services (CAAS).
2018 – Superior Air-Ground Ambulance Service of Wisconsin Inc. established operations.
2019 – Superior Air Ambulance achieved accreditation through the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems (CAMTS).
2020 – Superior deployed rotating crews to New York City to support EMS during the COVID-19 pandemic.
