1917

The sale was made in 1917 for $25 million.

1921

These Courts existed under the 1921 Codes of St Thomas and St John, and St Croix.

1954

On July 22, 1954, the Revised Organic Act of the Virgin Islands was amended and approved.

1962

Higher education and teacher training are available at the University of the Virgin Islands (1962), a United States land-grant institution with campuses on St Thomas and St Croix.

1965

On March 1, 1965, the two municipal courts were combined into a single court called the Municipal Court of the Virgin Islands.

After a decade of this judicial structure, the composition of the local judiciary changed again in 1965.

1976

On September 9, 1976 the Legislature of the Virgin Islands established the forerunner of today's Superior Court of the Virgin Islands in accord with Act.

2006

All three justices were unanimously confirmed by the Virgin Islands Legislature on October 27, 2006, and sworn into office on December 18, 2006.

2012

The Third Circuit issued its first report on June 9, 2012, which concluded that the Supreme Court had developed sufficient institutional traditions to justify ending the fifteen (15) year oversight period.

Petroleum refining ceased in 2012 with the closure of the HOVENSA plant on St Croix after more than four decades in operation.

The United States government returned it to the territory the following year with recommended changes, and in 2012 the convention began meeting again to discuss revisions to the document.
