Supervisor nuclear medicine job description

Nuclear Manufacturing is responsible for the manufacturing of time sensitive radiopharmaceuticals in an integrity driven, highly regulated environment \(i\.e\. FDA, NRC, DOT\) to support patient treatment through disease diagnosis, staging, and monitoring\.
Accountabilities

+ Works in compliance with all regulatory standards including EHS, cGMP, Radiation Safety, applicable FDA and pharmacy laws, DOT, and internal policies and interpretations
+ Manages small group of staff to ensure manufacturing operations
+ Conducts performance reviews
+ Creates employee schedules around manufacturing production hours and needs
+ Handles facility budgeting\. Generates reports as it relates to financial performance
+ Acts as Project Manager for investigational new drugs
+ Executes Standard Operating Procedures \(SOPs\) in accordance with current Good Manufacturing Practices \(cGMP\) requirements including Good Documentation Practices \(GDP\)
+ Monitors and verifies quality in accordance with SOPs
+ Performs general maintenance
+ Maintains a sterile environment, including required cleaning of equipment and facility
+ Work in partnership with cross functional teams to ensure product/production expectations and demands are met
+ Adheres to a large volume of SOPs, with the ability to adapt to process improvements
+ Utilizes technology to support manufacturing processes

Qualifications

+ High School Diploma or GED required
+ A minimum of 2\+ years related work experience
+ Demonstrated success in managing people and leading a team
+ Strong communication skills
+ Ability to lift 55\-75 lbs
+ Ability to rotate shifts and/or schedules as business need requires\. This will include weekends, holidays and on call responsibilities
+ Demonstrated experience success at managing a cross functional team required
+ Experience with the manufacturing of FDG and Sodium Flouride is preferred
+ Demonstrated project management experience strongly preferred
+ Experience working in compliance with all regulatory standards including Environmental Health and Safety, cGMP, Radiation Safety, applicable FDA and pharmacy laws, DOT, and internal policies and interpretations
+ Past experience conducting performance reviews preferred
+ Past experience creating employee schedules around manufacturing production hours and needs preferred
+ Prior budgeting experience preferred
+ Past financial reporting experience preferred

What You Will Do:

General Summary Under limited supervision, manages the day-to-day operations of the assigned clinical engineering service line. Assists management with program management, including equipment repair, equipment calibration, and preventive maintenance, supervising and directing staff, planning and organizing workload, creating and maintaining open lines of communication, customer service, financial management, and team development.

Principal Responsibilities and Tasks

+ Coordinates, manages and performs the biomedical equipment maintenance, repair, calibration and evaluations of clinical equipment included in the respective service line, including anesthesia & ventilators, electromechanical, lab & pharmacy, or nuclear medicine

+ Supports and repairs biomedical service equipment, including daily assignment of tasks. Monitors and controls budgets to assure the most cost-effective and efficient operation.

+ Provides supervision of service line technicians, including employee motivation, hiring, discharge, discipline, and promotion and performance evaluation.

+ Provides technical training to other employees on equipment operation and checkout, repairs, preventative maintenance, quality assurance practices, procedures, and documentation.

+ Assists in the evaluation of new equipment and makes recommendations pertaining to electrical and functional conformance to standards.

+ Evaluates equipment problems and implements appropriate repairs with minimum supervision, maintaining effective customer relations and customer protocol.

+ Participates in hazard identification and medical device reporting procedures to ensure the patient care environment is safe.

+ Instructs customer personnel on safe equipment operation.

+ Performs preventive maintenance and calibration on medical equipment.

+ Maintains adequate files and parts inventory for assignments.

+ Achieves productivity, customer satisfaction and other established performance measures.

+ Participate in on-call rotation.

+ Perform other tasks as assigned.

+ Requires the expertise and experience of a senior level technician.

What You Need to Be Successful:

Education and Experience

+ Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Electronics, Biomedical, or related technical discipline required; military training in these fields preferred.

+ Minimum 7 years of experience working on biomedical equipment in a clinical engineering environment.

+ Must have a minimum of 3 years of lead tech/supervisory experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

+ Valid driver's license

+ Working knowledge of anatomy and physiology and how it relates to the diagnostic, therapeutic, and monitoring characteristics of clinical equipment.

+ Theoretical and practical knowledge of electronic and mechanical technology, as well as familiarity with reading circuit diagrams and mechanical schematics.

+ Familiarity with pertinent regulatory agencies and the policies, codes, standards, and regulations that applies to the clinical equipment in their area.

+ Familiarity with the setup and application of all test equipment (electrical safety analyzer, digital multi-meter, patient simulator etc.).

+ Ability to identify skill development areas and takes the initiative to learn new processes and technologies.

+ Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical literature, schematics and technical.

+ Understanding of quality indicators and works toward raising overall scores.

+ Good communication skills, both written and verbal.

+ Time management and organizational skills.

+ Willingness to be flexible in work scheduling in order to meet customer needs.

+ Detail-oriented.

+ Ability to perform basic financial analysis and calculate budgets, revenue and costs

+ Ability to effectively use software such as Microsoft Office and CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).

+ Strong knowledge of CE-IT alliance.

+ Takes on call assignments within the department schedule and serves affiliated facilities.

Supervises and oversees the day-to-day activities related to the nuclear medicine services ensuring consistent delivery of high value quality services to support effective outcomes. Oversees and facilitates daily operations, and liaises with other patient care departments to ensure service integration, and safe and effective delivery of services. Establishes work priorities, and assists staff in resolving operational issues/problems. Implements and enforces adherence to department, affiliate, operating unit, and/or system standards, policies and procedures, the Joint Commission (TJC) standards, and applicable laws and regulations Identifies and implements cost savings and best practices, using Lean or other process improvement methods and concepts. Collaborates with others to coordinate services, streamline and standardize workflows and procedures, and/or drive positive outcomes.

**EDUCATION**

+ HS Diploma or equivalent education/experience

**CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE**

+ BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider

+ NMT-Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist

**PREFERRED EXPERIENCE**

+ 5 years of progressively responsible professional nuclear medicine technologist experience demonstrating a thorough knowledge of nuclear medicine procedures and/or techniques

+ 5 years experience with electronic health record applications.

+ 5 years experience with survey protocols on department and organizational level (Joint Commission, State, etc).

**SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE**

+ Solid understanding of operations and workflows in Nuclear Medicine and how department's process/workflow impacts other flows or departments.

+ Knowledge and understanding of applicable local, state, federal and other health care laws, regulations and requirements - e.g., TJC, Medi-Cal, Medicare.

+ Demonstrated leadership skills, including team building, and coaching/mentoring with the ability to motivate and engage others.

+ Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve technical and operational issues problems as guided by policies, and procedures, or guidance from leadership.
