Reporting directly to the CEO of MTM Trailer Manufacturing, the Director of Supply Chain will be responsible for Direct and Indirect Procurement, Logistics, coordinating and directing the technical aspects of the organization's materials and compliance strategy. The Director will lead the MTM Supply Chain team, oversee their tasks, and be their point of escalation for all issues which they cannot resolve. This position will be responsible for developing and directing standard use of MRP for the MP&L function, MRP processing methods, inventory control, receiving-shipping-logistics processes, tariff impacts, Supply Chain process development, best practices, lessons-learned, and team leadership skills. This position is also responsible for coordination with Engineering, Operations, Sales and other functions that rely on the supply chain for success.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Procurement
Develop negotiation strategies and lead negotiations with major suppliers
Identify areas of potential savings and develop commodity strategies and negotiation strategies for the all MTM products
Identify areas of potential savings and develop commodity strategies and negotiations strategies to obtain these savings for the product(s) inherited with acquisitions
Lead efforts to mitigate and track tariffs
Manage the budgets for the Facilities Maintenance and MRO spend
Provide forecasts for the long lead time components, and review and approve the forecasts for the remaining components
Work with Engineering and Operations to improve the process for New Product Development, and develop the processes for the Supply Chain group
Monitor supply markets and industries including pricing trends, new suppliers and alternative solutions and supply risks
Material Planning and Logistics
Provide forecasts for the long lead time components, and review and approve the forecasts for the remaining components
Anticipate supplier and MTM operational issues that could affect supply and lead/support activities to resolve supply issues
Lead the identification and development of advanced material planning and logistics processes
Champion the use of the MRP system
Ensure efficient and effective material ordering, tracking and receiving
Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems
Supplier Quality
Seek, establish and maintain supplier relationships that provide the best quality, on time delivery, and desired service level at the lowest total cost
Develop and conduct new supplier evaluation and qualification process to support supplier onboarding
Determine category-specific supplier performance measurements, enabling tools and processes, and enforce quality metrics
Provide suppliers with visibility to their own performance, fostering proactive resolution of problems
QUALIFICATIONS
12+ years of experience in in a manufacturing company purchasing and supply chain environment - preferably in the trucking, trailer, heavy equipment, or automotive industries
8+ years in a direct management position with multiple direct report
Strong communication and organizational skills with a focus on customer service.
Solid working knowledge of financial principles and product cost structure analysis.
Bachelor degree in Business Management, Engineering or other technical field
Ability to lead direct reports and influence others outside of the position's direct span of control
Preferred:
MBA or other Master's Degree.
Familiarity with warranty processes and labor time standards.
Proven track record of hitting or exceeding sales targets for parts and service.
