Basic account management skills and knowledge in regard to the creation, modification and termination of user accounts across multiple platforms.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
Five (5) years or more experience working in a 24/7/365 Health Care environment Access Management, Help Desk, Service Desk, or IT Support position using phone and email to provide direct end-user support and account management, preferred.
ServiceNow ITSM tool usage, Mainframe knowledge, general account administration and Microsoft Active Directory administration experience highly preferred

Our Trauma-Informed Peer-Led Reentry Program empowers individuals transitioning from incarceration to the community. The program aims to provide a safe, understanding, and transformative environment where participants can heal, grow, and rebuild their lives.
Position Overview:
As a Peer Support Associate, you will collaborate with program participants to identify, access, and secure various health, social, and community services. In addition to this, your role will involve enrolling and offering fundamental workforce development support to program participants. The core responsibility is to coordinate services based on the needs of our peers (clients), placing trauma-informed participant-centered service delivery at the forefront. This position will also encompass the facilitation of workshops for small groups, interaction with individuals with justice involvement, and providing personalized services to minimize obstacles to employment, recovery, and financial self-reliance. You will work closely with the Program Manager to deliver services to participants and support program initiatives.
The role of a Peer Support Associate is a 90-day temporary employment, classified as a full-time, W-2 position, with an expected commitment of 40 hours per week. During this time, employees will receive comprehensive, hands-on training and will be paired with an experienced Peer Navigator to observe and engage in core responsibilities while becoming acclimated to the organization's values, culture, and service model.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY/WORK
The Youth Peer Support Specialist will act as a support and resource for youth with serious emotional disturbances (SED) who are receiving services in the Specialized Services for Youth program (SSY). The Youth Peer Support Specialist will act as a key member of the treatment team by working with youth one-on-one or in a groups, supporting them in achieving goals through shared activities and interventions. The Youth Peer Support Specialist will support youth empowerment by assisting youth in developing skills to improve their overall functioning and quality of life and working collaboratively with others involved in delivering the youth's care. The position reports to the Outpatient Supervisor of Specialized Services for Youth.
Professional Practice
Build and foster relationships with the youth, family and others working with the youth.
Provide services to youth primarily in the home or community.
Actively engage as part of the treatment team to meet youth needs, complete all required documentation and paperwork.
Prepare the youth to fully participate in their own meetings and treatment planning process (including Wraparound, Family Centered Planning meetings, IPOS, IEP meetings, etc.).
Teach self-advocacy, problem-solving and independent living skills.
Provide support during “rough” or “crisis” times.
Provide community education about youth culture and perspective.
Empower the youth to build understanding in others about their unique mental health needs.
In collaboration with the youth, work with other internal and external partners (i.e., schools, faith community, other human services organizations) to develop natural supports to eliminate barriers to services, enhance existing community services or develop new services based on the needs of the youth.
Co-facilitate groups of youth focusing on goals as specified in the treatment plan.
Provide consultation and education to individuals and groups, and use problem-solving techniques with the objective of assisting youth in improving or maintaining functioning.
Serve as a role model and active participant in supporting youth in meeting their treatment plan goals.
Document, in the form of written notes, in ODIN all family/individual contacts and/or activities conducted on their behalf.
Conducts individual check-ins as necessary, provides check-in contact when clinicians are unavailable, as appropriate.
Assists in facilitating community referrals to resources identified by the clinician, individual and family.
Attends staff, team, and department meetings.
Participate in mandatory trainings in accordance with the requirements of funders, OCHN and MDHHS.

Minimum High School Diploma/GED and relevant work/life experiences.
Lived experience with receiving mental health services as a youth.
Experience in complex, child serving systems preferred (behavioral health, child welfare, juvenile justice, special education, etc.).
Willing and able to self-identify as a person who has or is receiving behavioral health services and is prepared to use that experience in helping others.
Certification as a Youth Peer Support Specialist within six months of hire.
Minimum of one year of experience working with minors and their families preferred.

Verify patient demographics, insurance details, and billing information for accuracy.
Perform insurance verification and same/similar checks to meet compliance requirements.

General Statement:
Under the direction of the Program Supervisor, performs responsible tasks in providing comprehensive services to Genesee Health System (GHS) consumers. In addition to DBT specific services, may also assist with housing, entitlements, skill building, and ongoing peer support; responsible for significant liaison and consultation with family, agencies, guardians, and natural support systems. Provides activities in partnership with consumers for the specific purpose of achieving recovery, including increased community integration, independence and productivity; performs related work as required.
Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent, ability to read and write, AND current or previous recipient of verifiable mental health or substance use disorder (if substance use disorder, must attest to remission or recovery with no abuse for at least one (1) year). If in current services, must have achieved a level of recovery consistent with performance of the job duties AND must have six (6) months experience with Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) treatment and skills taught in the model (either as a consumer of DBT or as a Peer Support Specialist in a DBT program)
Must have achieved Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS) status through the Michigan Department of Community Health's certification program. Will consider a candidate eligible for the CPSS training/examination. A candidate without the CPSS must take and pass the exam within twelve (12) months of hire to retain employment in this position.
Additional Requirements:
Must have a valid Michigan driver's license, current insurance and the use of a vehicle during program hours. Must be willing to work weekend, holidays and irregular hours. Ability to physically perform the tasks.
Preferences:
One (1) year post-completion of DBT treatment.
Computer knowledge and data input ability.
Two years of college, or work experience with the DBT target population (persons with multiple disabilities including borderline personality disorder).
