Minimum Qualifications for GS-11:

Minimum Qualifications for GS-12:

Position Summary
The Peer Recovery Support Specialist (PRSS) uses their own lived experience with substance use recovery to provide hope, guidance, and mentorship to individuals involved with the RAFT program. PRSS staff help clients navigate the recovery process, access treatment and community resources, and stay motivated as they work toward reunification and long-term wellness.
Key Responsibilities
Provide peer-based support, encouragement, and mentorship to individuals in recovery in the court system.
Assist clients in identifying their strengths, goals, and recovery needs.
Help clients connect with treatment programs, housing, employment, community services, and recovery supports.
Share lived experience appropriately to empower and motivate clients.
Support clients in navigating DHHR, court systems, and community partners as needed.
Participate in treatment team meetings, case reviews, and RAFT program activities.
Maintain required documentation and case notes in accordance with SHCMHC and grant standards.
Model healthy recovery behaviors, boundaries, and professionalism.
Maintain confidentiality and comply with all HIPAA and agency policies.
Qualifications
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Lived experience with substance use and sustained recovery (minimum 6 months-1 year preferred).
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Ability to pass required background checks
as permitted by the PRSS role
.
