We are looking for an administrator who will positively impact student success by planning, carrying out, evaluating, and supervising instructional activities. Our administrators play a key role in ensuring that our schools receive support. The Equitable Supports Coordinator strategically supports the planning, development, organization, management, direction, and implementation of all aspects of culture and climate programming in IPS. WHAT YOU’LL DO:
The following outlines what your core duties and responsibilities will be for this position and provides a sample overview of what your day-to-day may look like.
Core Duties and Responsibilities
● Lead efforts pertaining to culture and climate, behavior, and SEL
● Strategically align and proactively develop systems and processes, partnerships, programs, that promote student belonging, safety, positive school climate, etc.
● Develop and facilitate an annual training scope and sequence that ensures all building leaders, discipline personnel, etc. are current on the latest best practices, district/school data, etc.
● Collaborate with other Academic teams to ensure culture & climate priorities are embedded in instructional priorities and shifts
● Annually update and train on the IPS Student Code of Conduct, along with key stakeholders
● Serve as a member of the district expulsion review committee for all cases of significant disregard to the IPS Student Code of Conduct
● Ensure that all practices in the district are legal and ethical for each student/family so that every student has the opportunity and access to achieve at a high level and be prepared for post-secondary success
● Perform other duties assigned by the Director of Equitable School Supports
“Day In the Life” Overview
On a regular day, as the Special Services Coordinator, you might:
● Establish a speaker series and other opportunities to prioritize and communicate advancements and proof points of school culture and climate, social-emotional learning, culturally responsive teaching, etc.
● Plan, implement, and evaluate educational programming in order to ensure continuous program improvement for the benefit of all students
● Supervise, evaluate, and direct the work of the SEL Specialists, the Climate and Culture Specialist, and/or other roles as directed by the DES or USS Officer
● In collaboration with the Early Intervention Coordinator, monitor and respond to Indiana Department of Education designations of significant disproportionality and disproportionality in effort to design and implement districtwide systems to address inequitable practices and approaches to discipline or other student-centered programs
● Identify community based diversion and/or other student support programs to diminish the need for exclusionary discipline

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS

● Working knowledge of federal and state special education laws, rules, and practices; including IDEA and Article 7
