    About Aviation Electronics, Electrical, and Computer Systems Technicians (AV) work with some of the most advanced aircraft systems in the world. They repair and maintain electrical and electronic systems ranging from radar and communications to navigation and weapon systems. AV Sailors may also volunteer as Naval Aircrewmen, performing in-flight duties and operating radar and weapon systems. Responsibilities Depending on your rating (AE or AT), you may: Troubleshoot and repair complex aircraft systems, including digital computers, fiber optics, infrared detection, radar, and laser electronics. Maintain electrical power generation and distribution systems. Test and calibrate aircraft instruments and automatic flight controls. Perform micro-miniature module repair on circuit cards. Install modifications to aircraft electronics systems. Operate diagnostic equipment and read electrical diagrams. Work Environment AV technicians serve at sea and ashore worldwide.
