The Certified First Assistant in Surgery (CFA) provides assistance to the surgeon or group of surgeons during an operative procedure as a first or second assistant providing aid in exposure, hemostasis, and other technical functions that will help the surgeon carry out a safe operation with optimal results for the patient. Responsibilities And Duties: Provides assistance to the surgeon providing exposure, hemostasis, and other technical skills. Provides wound exposure through proper use of retractors so surgeon may clearly view operative site.
