    Under the general supervision of the Manager of Perioperative Services, and the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Surgical Technologist is responsible for filling the surgical scrub role on all types of minor and major surgical procedures dependent on individual competencies in each surgical specialty. Assists physicians and nurses in various medical and technical procedures. These functions must be in compliance with the philosophy of the hospital, standards of practice and regulations of governing agencies. Key Responsibilities: * Ensure sterility of all supplies and instruments during set-up of surgical procedures. * Assist circulating nurse and surgical team in maintaining a sterile environment. * Gather necessary surgical supplies and equipment. * Perform sponge, needle, and instrument counts pre-operatively and intra-operatively with the circulating nurse. * Gown and glove surgeons and assistants. * Keep physician preference cards accurate and updated. * Retain all specimens for pathology, confirming source and name with the surgeon. * Transport surgical equipment to cleaning areas and assist with instrument reprocessing. * Interact professionally and effectively with patients, visitors, and healthcare team members. * Follow Standard Universal Precautions, infection control protocols, and safety guidelines. * Serve as a resource to other members of the healthcare team. * Maintain required certifications such as CPR. * Act in accordance with the vision, mission, and business philosophy of the Center.
