The CST scrubs for surgical procedures and demonstrates competence while functioning as a member of the surgical team. The surgical technologist handles the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure. S/He has an understanding of the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon. S/He has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field. Responsibilities: * Assist in preparing the room for surgical procedures * Assist the RN in the required nursing activities of patient care before, during, and after surgery * Maintain the clean and orderly environment in the OR suite * Stocking/re-stocking of supplies * Assist in the plan of care for the patient Requirements: * High School Diploma or Equivalency required * Certified Surgical Technician certification required * Successful completion of OR Technician program preferred * Ability to stand for long periods of time as well as the ability to lift and position patients
