Responsibilities Patient Care* Assists in intubations including difficult airways. * Uses aseptic and sterile technique to prep, assist with placement and secure all catheter placements performed by licensed anesthesia providers, including IVs, arterial lines, central lines, RICs and floating Swan-Ganz catheters. * Sets up blood warmer and adult IV fluid lines. * Performs trauma response and runs Arterial Blood Gases (ABG) and Venous Blood Gases (VBG) and Activated Clotting Time (ACT). * Assists in all heart cases. Operations* Ensures all operating suites are fully stocked with anesthesia supplies. * Makes available, assembles, and assists with the operation of specialized equipment. * Assist the surgical suites staff with room set up and turn over assistance. * Sets up OR for demanding cases (according to licensing restrictions). * Prepares and assembles software and operates the autotransfusion equipment. * Maintains patient records for all procedures utilizing intraoperative autotransfusion. * Provides an estimate of blood loss via autotransfusion unit and total volume reinfused. Equipment Care* Collaborates with Biomed to assure equipment is functioning and loaner equipment is available. * Assists anesthesia staff with equipment. Compliance/Safety* Responsible for reporting any safety-related incident in a timely fashion through the Midas/RDE tool; attends all safety-related training programs; performs work in a safe manner; monitors work environment for possible safety issues and ensures others are also performing work in a safe manner. * Stays current and complies with state and federal regulations/statutes and company policies that impact the employee's area of responsibility. * If required for the position, ensures all certifications and/or licenses are up-to-date and valid prior to expiration dates. * Completes all company mandatory modules and required job-specific training in the specified time frame. Job Description The Lead Anesthesia Technician will oversee the Anesthesia Technician needs in the Anesthesia Department, including managing the schedule for the Anesthesia Technicians. Working directly with Biomed, the Lead Anesthesia Technician maintains all anesthesia equipment and ensures up to date work is performed. The Lead Anesthesia Technician works with all sales reps to keep current on potential upgrades and replacements as equipment nears end of life or new options become available. During codes, traumas and other stat situations, the Lead Anesthesia Technician works with the charge nurse to assess and allocate resources to meet the needs of surgical services. The Lead Anesthesia Technician works directly anesthesiologist specialty leads to ensure that all providers have the means to provide optimal patient care. They work with the Anesthesia Technician specialty leads to ensure that any process improvement that needs to happen is completed. The Lead Anesthesia Technician attends all OR and Anesthesia monthly staff meetings and present as needed. S/he works with our Education Team to schedule all necessary new employee education as well as continuing education (CE) for existing Anesthesia Technicians. S/he is responsible for all education and corresponding paperwork and digital trail to ensure compliance of education and documentation of the Anesthesia Technician team. This position's work location is on site only. Responsibilities Leadership* Manages the schedule, call schedule of the technicians and buddy call with techs in training. * Works with charge nurse during codes, traumas and other stat situations to assess and allocate resources to meet the needs of surgical services. * Orients and precepts new technicians as they start in the department. * Works with vendors to keep current on potential upgrades and replacements as equipment nears end of life or new options become available. * Works with the Education Team to ensure all education, corresponding paperwork and digital trail of the Anesthesia Technician team is compliant. * Works with Biomed to ensure all anesthesia equipment is maintained and up to date work is performed. * Works with the Anesthesiologist and OR Educator to assure competencies of the anesthesia technicians are current and complete. * Department liaison for OR departments. The OR Scrub Tech, under the supervision of Director and/or Clinical Manager/Coordinator, is responsible for preparing supplies and equipment for interventions, using appropriate techniques. Provides technical services as assigned and directed. The OR Scrub Tech assists and/or performs patient procedures that are within the scope of their unit specific Skills Summation. This position works in an in-patient / hospital based environment. Responsibilities Patient Care* Prioritizes and addresses technical needs to meet patient conditions. * Assists the health care team during surgical procedures by integrating an understanding for anatomy and physiology with the surgical procedure. * Prioritizes and addresses technical needs to meet patient conditions. * Provides safe patient care for the intra-operative phase, including specimen handling and medication labeling and handling. Equipment Management* Prepares appropriate instruments, sutures, supplies, and equipment for specific procedures and be able to anticipate the sequence of events and needs of the surgeon and patient. * Maintains, monitors, and restocks equipment and supplies as assigned or as necessary. * Opens surgical equipment for each case appropriately and anticipates the physician's needs during each procedure.
